I'm Megan, a passionate cat enthusiast with over a decade of experience in making feline friends feel loved and secure. My journey with cats began when my family rescued a litter of stray kittens when I was 4 years old and since then, I've cared for cats of all breeds and personalities. My family ended up raising five cats during my childhood, and in my later teenage years and all the way through college, I did a lot of cat sitting for friends, family, and coworkers. In addition to that, this last year working for Meowtel has really rounded out my experience, allowing me to provide top-notch care for a wide variety of feline needs.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Although my current apartment doesn't allow pets, cat-sitting has filled that gap in my life. There's rarely been a time when I didn't have cats around growing up, and this job brings that joy back to me. I find immense fulfillment in caring for and being around cats; ensuring they are happy and well-cared for.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
1. I'll work to schedule an in-person meet and greet as soon as possible. I prefer to do this in-person for new clients but understand there are certain situations that may prevent that so I am open to video meet-and-greets if needed. 2. During the meet and greet, I will greet the cat and allow them to sniff me out so they won't be as scared when I drop by for my first visit. Then I will listen attentively and take notes on all the care instructions and any concerns the client may have. 3. Finally, I get the key (or the lockbox/keypad code) and test it out to make sure everything is working.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
With cats that are really shy or anxious, it's important to let them know they are in control of all our interactions as we get to know each other and as I'm in their space. I do this by always allowing them to approach me first to sniff me out and potentially make any additional contact with me. If they show signs of wanting to be pet, I take it very slow and make sure they always feel comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

San Francisco cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $37.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Megan was an absolutely fantastic caretaker to my cats and I couldn’t give a more enthusiastic recommendation!!! A bit of background on just why I am so enthusiastic about her: Megan took care of my 3 special needs cats 3x/day for 10 days. 2 of my cats require manual bladder expressions every 8 hours, and there’s a host of other meds. I usually find traveling very stressful. Megan did a terrific job of taking care of my cats timely (for 30 visits!) and did a fantastic job of communicating this to me, with both detailed updates and pictures (of both the cats and the expressions). Megan really went above and beyond and helped put me at ease during my trip. Thanks so much Megan! I intend to use Megan for all of my future cat sitting needs! :)

I have 2 special needs cats that are incontinent (ie: cannot pee on their own). Megan was an absolute CHAMP in learning to express their bladders and doing all of the unglamorous related care.
