What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love getting to spend 1x1 time with cats and learn about their individual preferences and quirks! Catsitting is a great way to meet cats I’d otherwise never meet.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have three girls of my own. All of them came into the shelter I worked at as kittens, and I just formed a special conenction with these three. Their names are Poker, Shiloh, and Anya!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
As shelter staff, working with fearful/anxious cats was very common. I would never push your cat outside their comfort zone because I understand that change is inherently stressful for them and they cannot be rushed when they are trying to adapt. I’d use a variety of treats and toys, and if they simply weren’t interested, I’d just sit with them quietly, perhaps reading, and offer them hiding places or perches nearby so they can safely watch me and adjust to my smells/sounds, etc.

Abby was the perfect cat sitter for my fur babies! One of my cats takes an oral medication, and Abby handled it like an absolute pro. She even got my super skittish cat to come onto her lap. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely hire her again the next time I go out of town.

Abby went above and beyond in taking care of our kitties. With her calm demeanor, she immediately put our cats (and ourselves) at ease. She even agreed to take care of them with one having recently been through surgery, and she was able to make sure her pain was well-managed. She always made sure to ask questions if needed and was quick to reply so we didn't have to worry. We returned home to stress free cats and a clean home. Overall we were very pleased and will be requesting her care in the future!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Santee cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $33.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
