I’ve fostered more than 400 cats and kittens while volunteering with a local rescue for four years... Hi fellow cat lover! I’m Shanna, an experienced cat sitter based in Vista with a long history of hands-on rescue, medical care, and behavior support for cats of all ages. I’m a cat mom myself, so I understand how much trust it takes to leave your furry family member in someone else’s care.
I’ve fostered more than 400 cats and kittens while volunteering with a local rescue for four years. This included outgoing, shy, senior, special-needs, and medically fragile cats, so I’m comfortable with every personality and every level of health. I’ve cared for everything from bottle babies to seniors and have experience giving pills, insulin injections, and sub-q fluids.
My home is full of love and rescue animals including several cats, a senior tortoise, a playful pup, and backyard chickens; so caring for animals is truly part of my everyday life. I’ve been married for over twenty years, have two young adult children, and also run a nanny agency in addition to working for Trader Joe’s.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I spent four years as a cat foster, which I loved. It gave me valuable experience working with cats of all temperaments, from playful kittens to shy or special-needs adults. For the past several years, I’ve also been a trusted sitter with Meowtel, where I’ve completed nearly 300 cat-sitting assignments.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I really enjoy all the different personalities they have from sassy, to silly, to calm, or reserved, every kitty is different and I love having the opportunity to get to know them.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes, I have 3 cats: Willy a Maine Coon, Miki a gray tabby, and Eevee a gray and white tuxedo.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, im typically available during the holidays.
What is your favorite cat toy?
My favorite cat toy is called the kitty dancer. It’s one that all cats seem to like and let’s me engage with the kitties that are nervous with some space between us. For the really playful kitties it gets them leaping into the air which is fun to watch.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I’ve worked with many cats that are nervous and/or timid. I always take a gentle and non-threatening approach allowing them to come to me when they’re ready rather than directly approaching them. I speak in a quiet voice and get down on the floor so we’re on the same level and they can observe me. I never force anything and give them plenty of time to get to know me.

She showed up early for the meet and greet and was very communicative daily for his twice a day feeding and shots. Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Vista cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $32.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Shanna was awesome! My cats are very shy and they don't like new people but she managed to get close to them in just 2 days. I received updates on each visit which helped me feel better about how the cats were doing and that things were going OK back home. She followed all my instructions and I recommend her without a doubt. She was also concerned about cleaning so she went the extra mile to clean the litter and the recipients of the cats wet food. She was also very helpful in the meet & greet, being this my first time with Meowtel she asked the right questions so nothing was left out for my cats to be as if I was here with them

My experience was fantastic! I'm a recent MI transplant, alone with my two cats; one is elderly tabby with x2 day meds. The other is a 6 month ginger tabby, I found Shanna's profile would be a perfect choice. This is my second time with Shanna and it was great. I like how she really cares about the cats, not just coming, setting up everything and leave. She listens to all your request and she makes sure the cats are safe in each of her visits and that they have everything they need.
