Cats have always held a special place in my heart. As a former veterinary assistant and the founder of an animal rescue nonprofit, I have years of hands-on experience caring for cats of all ages, personalities, and medical needs. I’m comfortable with shy cats, seniors, kittens, multi-cat households, and cats who need medication or a little extra patience.

I understand that cats feel safest in their own homes and thrive when their routines are respected. During every visit, I’ll provide attentive care, fresh food and water, litter box cleaning, playtime, affection on your cat’s terms, and regular updates with photos. I will treat your cats and your home with the same care and respect I would want for my own.

Learn More About Amanda

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

My experience caring for animals began when I was a child, volunteering at my local pet store by cleaning cages and socializing the small animals. That early experience grew into a lifelong dedication to animals of many different species. I entered veterinary medicine in 2005 and have since gained more than 20 years of hands-on animal-care experience. Throughout the years, I have provided pet sitting and in-home care, worked in veterinary medicine, and cared for animals with a wide range of ages, personalities, behavioral needs, and medical conditions. Today, I run my own nonprofit animal rescue. Although my experience is not limited to cats, I have extensive experience caring for kittens, adult cats, seniors, medical cases, and frightened or undersocialized cats. I’m comfortable administering medications, noticing changes in health or behavior, and patiently earning the trust of shy or anxious cats.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting is the opportunity to build trust with each individual cat and experience their unique personality as they become comfortable in my care. I love the quiet moments of companionship, whether it’s a shy cat slowly choosing to sit nearby or a confident one greeting me at the door. There is something deeply rewarding about learning each cat’s routines, preferences, and subtle ways of communicating while providing comfort and consistency when their owners are away. I find great fulfillment in creating a calm, reassuring presence that helps every cat feel safe, relaxed, and understood in their own home.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

My biggest advice is to read the reviews—seriously, read them! Do your homework, ask questions, and choose someone who understands that cats are not simply small dogs. A good cat sitter should respect your cat’s routines, boundaries, personality, and individual needs. Pay attention to how thoroughly the sitter answers your questions and whether they ask thoughtful questions about your cat’s health, behavior, hiding places, feeding routine, and emergency information. Most importantly, trust your gut. You know your cat better than anyone, and if something does not feel right, keep looking until you find someone who gives you genuine peace of mind.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Colorado Springs cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
