Cat Sitting in Denver, CO

Hi pet parents, I'm Megan, and caring for cats is my purpose in life! I have 15 years experience as a cat sitter, kennel tech and a wildlife rehabilitation intern. I am PetTech First Aid and CPR certified. I LOVE working with kitties of all kinds, bonding with them on their own individual terms.

As a Meowtel sitter I focus on:

*Individualized playtime and attention
*Litter box care
*Fresh water and feedings
*Visit updates with photos and video
*Medication administration

I currently have two lovely kitties of my own: Ramona, a smart and sassy 11 year old brown tabby, and Zoey, an adorable, goofy 9 year old long haired calico. My precious tuxie, Roo, crossed the rainbow bridge a year ago. His loving heart still guides my work.

Working at the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley and Paragon Service Dogs (formerly International Hearing Dog) as a kennel tech, I was trained to:

*Administer subcutaneous fluids, injections, transdermal, topical, and oral meds
*Provide fresh water and nutritious food
*Facilitate socialization and enrichment, giving kitties things to think about and play with, from food puzzles, to wand toys, to dental chew sticks, and more
*Use positive reinforcement training techniques and body language

I had an incredible internship at Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, caring for injured and orphaned wildlife. We raised hundreds of orphaned squirrels, chipmunks, singbird, and waterfowl babies each spring and summer. We also assessed and rehabilitated injured adult animals, eventually acclimating them back to the outdoors and then to the wild.

I love to continue to learn and expand the kind of support I offer! I am now a Level II Healing Touch for Animals practitioner, and count it an honor and privilege to work with animals' energy fields to help bring healing and comfort. I plan on training in Reiki next.

I love working on the Meowtel platform connecting with cat parents, and making sweet new kitty friends! I would be honored to care for your fur babies as well. Please reach out with any questions, and to book a meet and greet with me today ❤️🐈‍⬛🌠

Learn More About Megan

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat sitting for 15 years, and have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of precious kitties of all shapes, varieties, and needs during this time. I am honored to have become a Meowtel sitter last year and blessed to be growing my kitty community.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love meeting and learning the personalities of new cats, they are all such unique individuals and watching their traits and quirks is so fun! I love forming a bond and friendship with a cat, it just ever gets old earning their trust and getting to be in their presence! I love helping let parents feel comforted knowing their cats are receiving the best possible care while they are away.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes! Zoey is eight years old, she is a long-haired calico. She is goofy and loving, and she drools when she snuggles lol. Ramona is a ten year old brown tabby, she is super smart and her voice is so expressive, she has a different sound for every emotion! My sweet kitty Roo, a magical 17 year old tuxedo with the purest heart, crossed the rainbow bridge last winter. He supports me still with his loving energy!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I would tell them to listen to their gut and pick someone who feels right. Make sure the sitter is professional and prompt with communication from the start. I think the best sitters have a great combination of skills, and heart-centered care for kitties.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I am always honored to be invited into a pet parent's home to meet and care for their kitties. I always book a meet and greet, I'm always so excited to meet your kitty for the first time! It's important to go over all details and care needs, and any questions on both sides. It's also important that the pet parent fill out a vet release form before the reservation, while extremely rare it's crucial that a sitter have the authorization to take a kitty to the vet if needed to keep them safe and healthy.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes, I am! I'm lucky to have my family here in Denver, and so I am available during the holidays.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I think it's really important to do a meet and greet with the pet parents when forming a pet-sitting relationship. Being introduced to the cats on THEIR terms, with guidance as to their personality, likes, and dislikes from their owners, is crucial. My kitty Roo was extremely shy, it took me three weeks for him to finally start coming out of hiding to bond with me after the neglect situation I rescued him from. It's important with a timid or anxious cat to be respectful of their space, and to open up a potential for interaction while allowing it to be the cat's choice as to interact or not. Having treats on hand always helps. Move at the cat's speed to slowly build trust. Aggression is a fear signal and means I need to give the cat more time and space. A calm, loving presence goes a long way.

Megan was a fantastic cat sitter. She kept me updated twice daily and sent pics and videos of the boys. Not only did she take excellent care of the cats but she brought them toys and stayed to play with them, which set my mind at ease. The cats loved her and I hope to book her for my next out of town trip. She went beyond what I hoped for.

Making a reservation was super easy. In fact, I had to cancel my first trip and later reschedule and Megan was super nice about it and very quick to respond. She did a fantastic job while I was gone. She was on time and always provided detailed feedback with pictures of what my kitties were doing, whether playing or eating. I would not hesitate to schedule with her again, in fact I plan on it. She is trustworthy, responsible, and above all else, great with cats! My two boys just loved her, despite tending to be shy cats. You won't regret hiring her!

Megan was amazing! She was thorough, communicative, and most importantly so loving to our cat. She took great care of him (even playing music for him while they played) and he was so relaxed when we got back from our trip. I know that’s because he had lots of attention while we were gone thanks to Megan. I’d absolutely recommend her to anyone!

Megan is the best! She was amazing to work with and took great care of our cat, who's on the older side. Our cat tends to hide from new people, but thankfully not for Megan! She was able to easily give him his pills and he loved snuggling with her. She sent lots of great photos and kept everything in order in my home. Megan is reliable, kind, communicative, and excellent with cats -- and people, too!

Megan was sooo wonderful! This was the first time we have gotten a cat sitter and Megan made us feel comfortable leaving our cats at home for 4 days while on vacation. She came before the reservation to meet the cats with us to make sure they were comfortable and she understood their needs. She sent the cutest updates everyday, gave our cat her medicine, and played, snuggled, and even cleaned the litter box. I couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter and will definitely reserve Megan in the future. I recommend booking thru Meowtell, especially with Megan for any cat sitting needs. 10/10 experience. Thank you Megan!!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
