The more time I spend with cats, the more I appreciate how differently they experience the world. Some find comfort in play, others in routine, and others simply in knowing someone familiar has arrived. That's why I never approach cat sitting as a checklist... Hi, I'm Sam! For as long as I can remember, cats have felt like family. I grew up with them, have two of my own, and began cat sitting at just 13 years old for neighbors and family friends. Nearly two decades later, I still consider it one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
The more time I spend with cats, the more I appreciate how differently they experience the world. Some find comfort in play, others in routine, and others simply in knowing someone familiar has arrived. That's why I never approach cat sitting as a checklist. I approach it as a relationship that's built one visit at a time, creating the familiarity and consistency that helps both cats and their owners feel more at ease.
In addition to In Good Paws, I'm also the founder of Illuminate: Art of Order, a professional organizing company, and The Katara Code, a coaching business focused on personal growth and relationships. On the surface they may seem like very different businesses, but to me they've always been connected. At the heart of each one is the opportunity to make someone's life a little easier, whether that's through their home, their personal growth, or the care of a beloved cat.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes! Nyx (Black Boy Cat) and Emberly (Orange Tabby Girl Cat). Nyx funny enough stands for the Greek Goddess of night-I named him that because I was told by the shelter when he was a kitten that he was a girl. The name stuck nonetheless 😆
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Look for someone who genuinely understands and respects cats’ unique personalities. Make sure the sitter takes the time to build trust with your cat and has experience handling a variety of feline temperaments. Ask about their routine for feeding, playtime, and care to ensure it aligns with your cat’s needs. It’s also important that the sitter communicates well, providing updates and being responsive if any issues arise.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
To ensure the safety and security of both the cats and the home while I’m cat sitting, I prioritize creating a calm, consistent environment. I make sure doors and windows are securely closed to prevent any escapes, and I’m mindful of any potential hazards around the house, like cords or plants. I follow any specific instructions from the owner closely, including feeding schedules, litter box cleaning, and any medication routines. For added security, I maintain clear communication with the owner, sending regular updates and photos, so they’re always informed. If anything seems out of the ordinary, I contact the owner immediately to discuss the best course of action.

Sam was incredibly easy to work with and took the best care of Miss meow! Every time Sam showed up, Miss meow always squeaked with glee when she came in and took to Sam very quickly. She also went out of her way to help with the trash, mail and bringing in packages. I couldn’t recommended a better sitter!

Sam was fantastic! I was a little nervous to leave the cats with a stranger - she made me feel so comfortable and took amazing care of them! One cat has special dietary needs which she was able to accommodate with no problems. She had great questions to make sure she knew everything about the house/cats, and gave great updates with photos. One of the cats is very shy, and Sam must be a kitty whisperer because she saw her at each of the visits, which is unheard of for strangers! We will definitely be using Sam again, and would definitely recommend her services!

Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.
Denver cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!

My cats are my family. I don’t trust them to just anyone. I do trust them completely in the hands of Sam. I travel for work a lot and Sam always steps up and takes care of the cats.
