Hello fellow cat pawrents!

I’m Colleen and I love cats!

My #1 goal is to make your cat(s) comfortable while you are away. I’ve had so much luck with shy kitties warming up to me. I always talk with a soft voice to the cats I sit, as if they understand. During my visits I often will introduce myself to them if they don’t come right out and I’ll talk to them about why I’m in their home and what I’m doing. I love cats and all their quirks...

Hello fellow cat pawrents!

My #1 goal is to make your cat(s) comfortable while you are away. I’ve had so much luck with shy kitties warming up to me. I always talk with a soft voice to the cats I sit, as if they understand. I will always respect your cats needs and purrsonality!

I grew up with 5-6 cats in my home as my family had a habit of rescuing them.
Now, I have two girls of my own. My black kitty is 13 years old and some former neighbors rescued her after she had kittens in their garage. She is very outgoing and is my constant companion at home. My white kitty is 11. She is more skittish and shy, especially around strangers, but she is VERY attached to me. She had chronic UTIs in the past and I’ve got loads of experience giving her medications and supplements to keep her healthy. Both girls are total sweethearts and love to cuddle with me all the time.

I have pet sat for 15+ years, starting with family friends and neighbors. I am very detail oriented and I LOVE when clients leave me written instructions that I can reference throughout a reservation. I’ve cared for plenty of cats as well as ferrets, dogs, turtles, fish, and plants. I am not squeamish when it comes to cleaning hairballs, accidents out of the litter box, or other messes. Over the years I’ve fed TNR/community cats in my neighborhood as well as helped get them medical care when necessary.

I am based in Englewood near South Broadway. I’m happy to meet talk through any specific needs you and your cat have! I’m fully vaccinated (and boosted) and I’m happy to match your level of health precautions.

A note on medications, I have cared for 4 diabetic cats through Meowtel (multiple reservations) and learned to give subcutaneous fluids, and I would feel comfortable doing either if you walk me through the process with you cat during a meet and greet session.

Please message me for inquiries about overnight cat sitting.

Learn More About Colleen

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I first started cat sitting for family friends when I was in middle school, they also had ferrets, fish, and turtles I cared for over the years. I grew up with as many as 6 cats in our household at one times and now have two of my own. In my adulthood I've consistently been the go to cat sitter for friends with cats, and I started with Meowtel in July 2022.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love all opportunities to spend time with cats, but winning over shy cats feels especially heartwarming. Since starting with Meowtel, I've had so many cat parents tell me their cat only comes out for me (and them, of course!) and has never come out for another sitter before. I always feel so honored to win over the shy ones.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

There was one client I sat for until they moved. They had two cats, one would always hide under the bed or in the closet. I would always bring him food to his hiding spot and talk to him a little bit. Eventually, on day 7 or 8 of a 10 day reservation, he decided he was ready to come out of hiding and was instantly ready to be friends. He let me pet him and he followed me around with his sister. He was no longer fearful and hiding when I came over.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have two kitties! My black cat is Quali (born 2012)and rescued by my former neighbors in 2013 when she had kittens in their garage. They offered her to me, and I couldn't say no because she was so incredibly sweet and loved people. My white cat is Dea, I got her as a kitten that my mom found at a vet clinic of a family friend in 2014. She has a bit of manx syndrome and has dealt with some UTI and constipation issues, but we've gotten it under control with diet and medication help from the vet. She is a cuddle bug and a total sweetheart with me and my husband, but can be shy with others.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Always be upfront and specific about your expectations, clear communication is the best way to ensure your reservation goes as well as possible. When I do meet and greets, I like to go over what clients should expect from me when I am visiting their kitties. I like to take a lot of photos to help keep your mind at east while you are away.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Once a new clients books a reservation, we set up the free meet and greet. The meet and greet usually lasts about 30 minutes and we will go over all the main topics related to kitty care! I usually like to know the feeding & water routine, litter box location & where to dispose of litter waste, any treats or favorite toys, medication routines, home alarm systems, and any other essential tasks you need taken care of while you are away such at putting out trash bins, checking the mail, etc. Always feel free to ask anything extra that I can help with!

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I will ask if your cat has had any recurring health issues. For male cats especailly, it's important to know if they have had issues with urinary tract infections or blockages as that can lead to emergency vet visits and if not taken care of in 24 hours, loss of their life. I also often watch for common household hazards during the meet and greet to discuss. For example, if you have plants I may ask if your cat ever gets into the plants and if you know if the plant is toxic to cats (eg. lilies). I also always make sure doors are firmly closed and locked when I leave so no one escapes outsite.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am generally available during the holidays.

What is your favorite cat toy?

My cats love their laser pointer, springs, and anything with catnip!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

As I answered above, I love shy kitties. I always speak to them softly and offer them space to they don't feel too overwhelmed by me. If there are treats, I like to offer them treats to they develop a positive association with me coming over. I never force them to do anything and always follow their lead when it comes to interacting.

As always, Colleen was an exceptional cat sitter. This was a particularly long trip for us (16 days) and I was a bit anxious as our cat is a cuddly boy sensitive to being alone. Colleen was super attentive to his needs with playing, feeding, cuddling, and reassured me by doing things like photographing the water fountain to show that it was functioning, and leaving on YouTube cat shows to provide some enrichment. She also took excellent care of our home, moving patio furniture to safety during a freak wind storm and rescuing toppled garden gnomes. When we got home everything was clean and most importantly our cat was happy and well adjusted. There’s no one we trust more than Colleen!

Colleen went above and beyond in caring for my 3 cats while I went home to be with family during a difficult time. It was a relief to know she was in my corner, and alleviated the stress of my being away for both myself and my kitties! My cats took to her immediately at their introduction visit - I knew they’d be in capable, compassionate hands. 💕

I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter then Colleen - it was very clear how much she loves and connects with cats and my boys were better off because of it. I received updates, pictures, and videos and neither of my kitties showed any signs of stress when I came home. Will definitely be using Colleen again the next time I need someone to catsit!

Colleen is reliable, thoughtful, and communicates well! I love the care she gives to my kitties. I have never had a sitter ask me, "Is this normal behavior for your cat?" She is really paying attention ❤️

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Denver cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
