Lily is my little princess. She loves to cuddle, she's super adventurous and friendly, and she's extremely food motivated. She will also hiss at any dogs walking by and will make absolutely sure she gets fed on time.
James is my little snuggle bug. He lives for warm cuddles and treats, but he's also a scaredy cat until he gets to know you.
Aviendha is my little baby. We found her as a newborn in the bucket of an excavator with three other kittens, but her mom only came back for her siblings... I have three little fur babies of my own, and I love getting to meet and get to know all of my client's pets. Every cat is different, and I really enjoy discovering each one of their personalities, their nuances, and what they like and dislike.

My favorite part of caring for my fur babies is learning how each of them communicates, understanding their needs, and then doing my best to meet those needs in a way that makes them feel safe and loved.
I've been pet-sitting regularly for nearly ten years now. I have experience raising neonatal bottle babies, caring for special needs cats, as well as giving medication. I've had clients describe me as having an innate ability and intuition to understand animals and what they're trying to communicate, as well as a calming presence that makes others feel at ease.
I was able to make pet sitting my full time job about three years ago, and it's been incredible. In my free time, I enjoy training MMA, Muay Thai, and Jiu Jitsu, taking dance classes, doing puzzles, and just existing outdoors.
I'm fully vaccinated and boosted, and I'll be happy to wear a mask in your home if required.
I'm available for both drop-ins, as well as overnight stays. I can't wait to meet your cats! :)

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've been pet sitting both dogs and cats for nearly ten years, but I've only been doing it full time for the past four.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I LOVE getting to experience different cats' personalities. One of the best things to me is slowly winning the trust and affection of a shy cat that initially wants nothing to do with me. Building relationships like that slowly feels somehow extra special and rewarding.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I do! I have three kitties: Lily, James and Aviendha. Lily and James are litter mates and get along well, while Avi tends to prefer hanging out with her humans and protecting her personal space. They're all incredibly smart and the biggest sweethearts.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
During our meet and greet I make sure to go over all of your care instructions with you, while taking notes, to make sure we both feel fully prepared for that first day after you leave. We'll talk about food, water, litter and medications, as well as whether the kitties are more food or play motivated, their likes and dislikes, and any additional chores like watering the plants or taking out the garbage. If there's a key to collect, we'll do that then, and of course I'll be available to answer questions at any time. I always start my check ins by sending you a message letting you know that I just got here, followed by lots of pictures and updates of your kitties. I will also always let you know when I'm heading out, along with a small summary of how the visit went.

What is your favorite cat toy?
Either a large kicker toy (so cute!!) or those cardboard rectangles on the thin metal rod that resemble flying insects. Also just a good stick.

She came to visit a number of times to help our cats get acquainted, as previous sitters struggled and were ultimately not able to medicate our cat as needed. After several sessions our shy cat came out to socialize with Melanie and our grumpy cat allowed himself to be medicated just like we were doing it ourselves. My wife and I were able to take a trip out of town together for the first time ever thanks to Melanie!

Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Fort Collins cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

Melanie was fantastic!!!! 100% recommended! We were nervous about leaving our kitties for a full 10 days--we have a divided household including two mischevious hellions, one dignified asthmatic older gentleman, and enough bad feelings between the two camps to have drawn blood and sent us to the eye specialist. Silas had never done his inhaler with anyone except for me, and I had no idea how it would go. Turned out--it was not scary leaving the cats for that long when we had Melanie!!! At the initial consult, it was very clear that Melanie is a cat person. She tuned into each individual cat. When talking about and trying medication, it was very clear that she cares about delivering it gently and, as much as possible, with consent. While we were gone, meds were delivered every day (the younger two are on psych meds to help the feud situation), and it was clear the cats all warmed up to her very quickly. Comments and anecdotes made it clear she really understood and appreciated each one as their ridiculous, fabulous individual self. When we returned it kind of felt weird to not be texting back and forth about the cats anymore! Melanie also went above and beyond to go pick up some nose drops and add them to Silas's med routine when his recurrent booger situation popped up the minute we left town. Also, she got the 2 younger ones to accept and enjoy treats that they hadn't been into before and STILL will not accept from us. And it seems like they're actually better about doing their meds now than they were when we left!

Melanie cared for my 2 kitties, one with a very strict medication regime, over the course of 5 days and she was great! She was a “live-in” and kept our apartment very clean while we were gone which was great to come home to, and she made sure the kitties had fresh water and fresh litter along with their food. She gave us updates everyday, 3 times a day, every time she gave our kitty his pill and was right on time for every one. Worth every penny! We will definitely be hiring her again!
