How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Indoor cats are sneaky creatures so I will make sure all doors/windows are closed and locked while I am in the home and before I leave. I will make sure there are no obstacles in the home as well that could put the cats at risk when left unattended.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes! Our family typically doesn’t travel during the holidays so I am available almost all of the time, including Thanksgiving and Christmas.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I think the best way to approach a shy kitty is to sit on the floor calmly and without making sudden movements. I will let the cat approach me, sniff me and rub on me before I attempt to reach my hand out and let the cat sniff that as well. Eventually I will see if the cat wants to be pet. It also helps to offer a treat if the owner allows.

We rehired Dominica to take care of our cat when a friend had to back out of cat sitting at the last minute. I was worried she wouldn’t be free for such a long trip last minute, but she accepted the reservation less than 5 minutes after I submitted! Just like the first time she took care of our cat, she went above and beyond to keep us updated, keep the house clean, and keep our sweet kitty happy. I can’t recommend her highly enough!

Dominica was the best! We had sudden death in the family, never used Meowtel before andshe helped walk me thru it. She took care of my 16 yr. old cat, sending bi-daily reports with pics. After the meet greet, I knew I had no worries. she even took out my trash for me. Highly recommend (Minnie) for your worry free pet sitter.

Dominica did a great job again. she did a great job of playing with our hyper kitty to burn some of the pent up energy. we have one kitty that hid but she still tried to make sure she got food and was taken care of.

Dominica is the ideal cat sitter. She is responsible, gentle and dedicated to doing a good job. She loves our cats, cuddles them and plays with them, to their delight. She managed their feedings and litter beautifully over the two weeks we were away and even shoveled our walk when it snowed, something we did not expect.

Dominica was a wonderful cat sitter! Our cat warmed up to her very quickly and was well-loved while we were away. Dominica payed close attention to all the instructions we gave for our cat’s care, and she also remembered all our kitty’s little quirks. She was a great communicator too - we got cute photos of our kitty every day and an update about how she was doing. Dominica also kept our house clean and tidy and even offered to water our plants. We will definitely reach out to her again if we need a cat sitter!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day

Dominica's holiday surcharge is 10%.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Fort Collins cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
