What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I enjoy most is the special connection I can create with each cat. Each cat has such a unique and distinct personality that I find it fascinating to discover. It’s incredibly rewarding to provide them with affection, personalized attention, and ensure they’re happy and relaxed. Every visit allows me to share special moments with them, and that’s what I value most about this job.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
To ensure the safety of the cats and the home, I make sure everything is secure and in order, checking for any potential hazards. I stick to the cats' usual routine, making sure they feel comfortable and relaxed, and I also spend time playing with them to keep them engaged. Additionally, I keep the owners updated with messages and photos. My priority is to provide them with a safe, fun, and loving environment. ☺️
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I have extensive experience handling cats, as I’ve had cats all my life and have also been involved in rescue centers, where I worked on socializing cats that were afraid of humans. When handling timid or anxious cats, I strive to be as calm and patient as possible. I give them the space they need to feel comfortable at their own pace, without forcing them to interact. I approach them slowly and gently, often speaking in a soft voice to help them get used to my presence. Over time, I offer gentle play or petting, always respecting their boundaries and need for security.

Ayelen was fantastic with our three cats and home. She was very responsible, kept us updated while we were away with photos and even a cute video of the kitties. She took the time to make sure each of them was comfortable and cared for. It’s obvious she genuinely enjoys working with animals. Our cats were calm and happy when we returned. Their boxes were clean, water and food bowls full, and even helped with some kitty clean-up...which meant a lot to us. We’re very grateful for the care she provided and wouldn’t hesitate to book her again.

She visited multiple times a day, brought him special treats (I preapproved so he could try them), played with and brushed him and sent us pictures and videos every day. We knew he was being very well looked after. I have never had someone else watch my little buddy and Ayelen definitely put me at ease. Highly recommend her!

I arranged to have Ayelen look after my Egyptian Maus last minute after my prior cat sitter fell through. She was able to meet and greet within 24hrs, and asked great questions. Maus are notoriously shy with strangers, and I was pleasantly surprised when she sent videos and pictures from her visits, with all of them out, playing and accepting affection from her.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Fort Lauderdale cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
