I usually allow any pet I take care of to get used to my energy on their own terms... Hi! My name is Kiara! I’ve been cat sitting for the last 3 years. I am not able to have a cat in my household, so I love being able to take care of other people’s fur babies. I am organized, friendly and love adapting to the personality of cats. Each one has their own temperament, wether they’re a snuggle bug or a lil on the timid side, I try to ensure the cats I take care of feel safe and comfortable. I am ultimately entering the cat’s territory, and take great pride in being respectful of other people’s spaces.
I usually allow any pet I take care of to get used to my energy on their own terms. I ask a lot of questions from owners prior to pet-sitting to ensure that needs are being met. I enjoy communicating with animals and observing their lil quirks. I enjoy reading, yoga, music and being in nature. My fav moments are when I’m deep in a book and a fellow kitty friend is keeping me company- wether that’s on my lap or at their own comfortable distance.
What sets me apart from other sitters is how emotionally intuned I can become with animals. They speak their own language and I treat them as equals. I’ve had the pickiest of kits warm up to me quicker than usual because I try to convey to them that I’m just here to understand and be of support. I always send picture updates to the owners of the cats I’m watching to keep them in the loop.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
My fav part of cat sitting is how unique each cat is. I love their lil quirks, the sounds they make, learning the fav parts to be pet. There’s also no greater feeling than earning a cat’s trust and watching them gradually warm up to me.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
My favorite cat sitting reservation was with a cat named Greg! I’ve actually taken care of Greg a few times. Greg and I became the best of friends, he really healed my heart. Every night he’d snuggle with me under blankets and he’d make lil chirps whenever he was called. I actually bought him a lil pumpkin cape costume for halloween and we took matching pics that I sent to his owner. I love taking polaroids, so after each visit I’d surprise Greg’s owners with a new pic that I’d attach to their fridge.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I allow cats to come up to me on their own terms. If they are timid, I will use a calm voice and try not to make too much sudden movements that could startle them. I always allow cats to initiate physical contact first. If they are giving me the green light that I can also return pets, I will do so gently at their own pace.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Fort Lauderdale cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $23.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
