Loving Cat Care While You're Away

Cat Sitting in Wesley Chapel, FL

Hello! My name is Heather, and I am a proud cat mom and sister. Yes, you read that right…cat sister. LOL! First, let me tell you about the kitties in the gallery. The calico kitty is Daphne, my fur-baby, and the brown tabby is Pinky, my cat sister. Daphne is a rescue who is the older and more chill of the two. She can be quite shy and timid, and once you have passed her kitty tests (that she only knows about) you will then be able to see this elusive feline. Seriously though, she went through some things before I got her and I don’t know what, but I know that I’m still earning her trust and I’m thankful for every day that I can make her life a better one. Pinky is my cat-sister (my mom’s cat), and much like Daphne, she is also a rescue; however, that is where things end. Pinky is significantly younger, loves to play ball, can be a vocal singer, and loves lap time and attention. You know you are doing right by her when the biscuit factory opens. As you can see, we have the ying and yang of kitties in my household.

Now about me. I’m a U.S. Air Force Veteran where I served for 27 years in the career equivalent to that of Human Resources. I’ve always had cats in my life for as far back as I can remember which translates into well over 40 years of experience. My experience has come from not only caring for my own cats, but also from volunteering as a Cattery Assistant in various animal non-profit organizations since 2009. As a Cattery Assistant I performed duties such as cleaning kennels and litter boxes, feeding and watering, keeping accurate records and logs, animal handling and restraint, cleaning and sanitization, and socialization. As a cat mom, I’ve had to administer medications orally, ear drops, ointments, and subcutaneous fluids. My passion, love, and experience has led me to this next chapter as a Meowtel Cat Sitter.

I understand the unique personalities of our feline friends and that every cat has their own preferences. Which means, I will always meet them on their own terms and will never rush an interaction. My approach is patient, gentle, and tailored to each cat's needs, ensuring they feel safe and loved. My goal is to make sure your feline family member(s) gets the attention and care they deserve and need in your absence.

What does a visit with me look like? I will perform all services promised to a Meowtel client which consists of litter box cleaning, feeding, water refresh, socializing/playtime, lots of love as allowed by your feline friend, cleaning and tidying any cat related messes, and sending you a written update and photos of my visit. If requested, I can also bring in your mail and packages left at your home.

I look forward to meeting you and your feline family, and most importantly, providing your cat(s) with the best possible care while you're away!

Learn More About Heather

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I joined Meowtel in January 2025, and have had the privilege of caring for cats of all ages, personalities, and medical needs. What started as a passion for helping cats has grown into a trusted service built on reliability, compassion, and exceptional care. I'm proud to have earned a 5-star rating with over 100 reviews and the trust of 30+ repeat clients; something I value more than any statistic because it reflects the relationships I've built with both cats and their owners. Meowtel has also recognized me as a Rare Find, a distinction given to highly sought-after sitters who consistently provide exceptional care and are often fully booked. Your cat's safety and well-being are always my top priorities. I'm background checked, privately insured for added peace of mind, and certified in Cat First Aid, allowing me to recognize potential concerns and respond appropriately if needed.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy the most about cat sitting is getting to know each cat as an individual. Every kitty has their own unique personality, quirks, routines, and little habits, and discovering what makes each one special is one of my favorite parts of every visit. No two cats are alike, and I love earning the trust of shy cats, engaging playful ones, and learning the preferences that help each cat feel comfortable and secure. Every new feline friend teaches me something different, allowing me to continually grow my knowledge and become an even better caregiver. I also enjoy building relationships with pet parents. Knowing that I can provide peace of mind while you are away is incredibly rewarding. For me, cat sitting is more than feeding and cleaning litter boxes; it's about understanding each cat, respecting their individuality, and providing the personalized care they deserve.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have 2 kitties in my household, Daphne and Pinky. Daphne is my pandemic kitty who is a rescue that is shy and timid; however, once she knows you and feels as though she can trust you she will show her loving and playful self to you. She may even give you lap time, which speaks volumes coming from her. Pinky is my Mom's cat, who is also a rescue, she is the younger of our two girls, and is loving and rambunctious.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

When choosing a cat sitter, take the time to review their profile, experience, certifications, and client reviews. This information can provide valuable insight into the quality of care they provide and the experiences of other cat parents. Most importantly, take advantage of the opportunity to meet your sitter in person. Meowtel schedules meet-and-greets after a reservation is confirmed to help ensure the safety of everyone involved. This visit gives you a chance to ask questions, walk through your cat's routine, and introduce your sitter to your feline family in a familiar environment. Trust your instincts. You should feel comfortable and confident that your sitter is someone who will care for your cat as if they were their own. If, after the meet-and-greet, you don't feel it's the right fit, Meowtel's support team can help you cancel the reservation and find another sitter so you have complete peace of mind before your trip.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes! I routinely make myself available for all major holidays because I understand that's when dependable cat care is needed most. If my calendar happens to show that I'm unavailable, I still encourage you to reach out. Depending on my schedule, I may be able to accommodate your request, and if I can't, I'm happy to refer you to another trusted Meowtel sitter. My goal is to help ensure every kitty receives the exceptional care they deserve, even if I'm not the one providing it. Because holiday availability fills quickly, I always recommend booking as far in advance as possible to reserve your preferred dates.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Every cat responds to new people and situations differently, so my first priority is allowing them to feel safe at their own pace. I give timid or anxious cats plenty of space, speak in a calm, reassuring voice, and avoid sudden movements or anything that could make them feel cornered or trapped. I never force an interaction; earning a cat's trust is always more important than rushing a greeting. I encourage owners to leave out favorite treats, toys, blankets, or other comfort items that carry familiar scents. Maintaining their normal routine and surrounding them with familiar smells can go a long way in reducing stress and helping them feel secure while their family is away. With patience, consistency, and respect for each cat's boundaries, many timid cats become more comfortable over time. My goal is always to create a positive, low-stress experience where the cat feels safe, respected, and cared for.

Wow! Look no further for a cat sitter, Heather is beyond compare! Two of my seven need medication and Mr. No Thank you, is Mr. Yes Please with her. The blind boy gave her a waddle for her money but warmed up with a little Churu. She is magic with the monsters and completely assuring to us humans. Every day we received a thorough walk through of her visit with little details of things you might be worried about along with candid pictures of curious kitties that show honest expressions of their dispositions. I am beyond thankful for my friend's recommendation for Heather!

Heather is incredible! Our Meet & Greet was very helpful. She met my six cats plus the new kitten, walked around with me and took notes while I explained our set up. We then sat while she explained her process and small details I hadn't thought of, like thermostat, mail, lights, insurance and keys. My anxiety about leaving was greatly reduced by Heather because I trusted her and her abilities immediately. My monsters will be in good hands!!

Heather was amazing (as usual)! She was always attentive to the cat’s needs, and was very patient with them as they are very shy. she listened to any requests I had which, let’s face it, were a bit excessive. Not only that, she notified me when our a/c was not working, which gave us enough time to get it fixed before it became a danger to the cats. on top of all this, she was able to get my VERY shy cat to come out and greet her, which is a feat that not even my closest friends or family had done for years. All in all, Heather is an awesome cat sitter who will put your kitties first 😸😸

Heather was an amazing sitter! Just moving into the area, I was uncomfortable leaving my cats with anyone as they were still adjusting to their new environment. My oldest boy, Fritz is 13 years old. He has always been afraid and insecure since tiny. Upon meet and greet visit, though shy, he identified with Heather and allowed her to pet him. I knew in my heart then, he would be in good hands. I cannot praise Heather’s care and attention enough! She followed their routine upon every visit and by my cats behavior when I came home, he didn’t feel abandoned (I usually get punished by him with cold shoulder attitude for days). I look forward to working with Heather again knowing my furry kids will be in excellent hands.

Heather was awesome! My kitties are very shy, and no one besides me and my mother have ever gotten to see them. Heather was very kind to them, explained what she was doing to them, and waited patiently with them for her whole appointment. I was even surprised to see that she had actually gotten a few pictures of them! overall a wonderful cat sitter! 😊

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
