What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have 25+ years of experience caring for cats of all ages and personalities, including kittens, seniors, rescues, and cats with special medical needs. As a veterinary technician for 9 years, I also have experience administering medications, monitoring health concerns, and providing attentive, compassionate care for every feline family member.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Safety and security are always top priorities for me, especially when it comes to your little one. I'm always mindful of potential hazards and take a proactive approach to keeping your little one safe. I never leave food unattended on counters, dishes in the sink, or cabinet doors open where curious paws might explore. I pay close attention to cords, chemicals, plants, and anything else that could pose a risk. I also do regular walk-throughs to make sure everything remains safe and secure. Preventing escapees is especially important. If a home has an attached garage, I prefer to use it as a buffer zone whenever I need to make a quick trip to the market or run a brief errand. By entering and exiting through the garage, I can close the interior door before opening the garage door, providing an extra layer of protection and peace of mind that your little one
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
One thing I've learned from 25+ years of caring for feline family members is that trust can't be rushed. When I first enter your home, whether for a meet-and-greet or a pet-sitting visit, I let your little one decide how and when we interact. If your little one comes right over to greet me, I'm happy to offer gentle attention and affection. If they prefer to observe from a distance or remain tucked away in a favorite hiding spot, that's perfectly fine too. I maintain a calm, low-energy presence and allow them to approach on their own terms. I often tell pet parents that curiosity usually wins. Most little ones eventually decide they want to investigate the new human in their home. By respecting their boundaries and letting them set the pace, I build trust naturally and help them feel safe, comfortable, and secure while you're away.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
