What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

While I am newer to cat sitting, I have experience with general pet care. Most of my hands-on experience has been with dogs for friends and family, and I bring the same attentiveness and reliability to caring for cats.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

While I have not done a lot of cat sitting yet, I really enjoy seeing the different personalities each cat has. I think my favorite part is playing with them and sharing snuggles when they are in the mood for it.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I share my home with four cats, each with their own big personality. Champ is 6 and a brown tabby who loves curling up in my lap, playing fetch, and proudly bringing me his toys like he has just conquered his prey. Felix is 5 and a tuxedo cat. My husband calls him my emotional support cat because he is glued to my side and proudly serves as the self appointed protector of the crew. Lily is also 5 and a calico with a strong independent streak. She prefers affection on her own terms, loves being up high so she can supervise everyone, and goes wild for a good laser light. Last is Blossom, who is 1 and a Russian Blue. She is a total love bug and enjoys laying on my chest for the best snuggles.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I would encourage pet parents to look for a cat sitter who truly respects a cat’s routine and individual personality. Cats thrive on consistency, so it is important to choose someone who asks thoughtful questions about feeding schedules, playtime, medications if needed, and comfort levels. A good sitter understands that cats are not one size fits all and will adjust their care to help your cat feel safe, comfortable, and secure while you are away.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I keep cats safe by maintaining their normal routine, securing doors and windows, and closely monitoring their behavior, eating, and litter habits. I carefully follow all care instructions, including medications like insulin, and communicate any concerns right away. If there are multiple cats, I always do a head count to make sure everyone is accounted for and not locked in somewhere they should not be. Your cat’s safety, comfort, and well being always come first.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes. The only holiday I usually go out of town for is Thanksgiving, as that is the time all of my husbands family is all together

What is your favorite cat toy?

I am a big fan of interactive toys like laser lights and wand toys. They are great for engaging cats, encouraging movement, and bringing out their playful personalities.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I move at their pace and never force interaction. I give them space, keep their routine consistent, and use a calm voice and slow movements so they feel safe. I let the cat decide when and how they want to interact, whether that is quiet company, gentle play, or no contact at all at first. My goal is always to reduce stress and help them feel comfortable in their own environment.
