Cats are honestly one of my greatest sources of j... Hi, I’m Emily! I’ve had cats in my life for most of the last 20 years. I grew up with them, and for the past 7 years I’ve been the main caregiver for my own two: a 7yo and a 17yo.
I’m comfortable giving oral meds, topical treatments, and injections.
Cats are honestly one of my greatest sources of joy, and I really love getting to care for them while their people are away. I’m self-employed, so I’ve got flexibility and can usually work around your cat’s routine. I also take a slow, respectful approach when I’m meeting a new kitty. I always let them come to me first and build trust at their pace.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have a 16yo cat named Cole. He is very chatty. Who loves to sing and make his presence known. He loves sitting by his favorite people and sleeps with mom and dad every night. He is not a fan of being held, but will make it known when he wants pats and head scratches. Riley is 6yo. She’s a princess and the pea, the sweetest thing but if you breathe too hard she will get up and leave. She loves to whisper meow and play with toys. She also loves sitting by her older brother!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
I’d tell them to look for someone who really understands cat behavior and respects their space. Every cat is different, so it’s important to find a sitter who will take the time to learn what makes their kitty feel safe and happy. I’d also say to trust your gut, if a sitter makes you feel comfortable and communicates well, that’s a good sign your cat will feel comfortable too.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Timid and anxious cats need patience and predictability. I always let the cat lead. I start by giving them space and letting them come to me on their terms. Once a cat seems a little more curious, I’ll try engaging them with wand toys from a safe distance to build confidence through play. I also stick to familiar routines and feeding schedules, and I’ll ask the owner about their cat’s favorite treats or comfort items to help them feel more at home.

Emily is an outstanding sitter. She was exceptionally kind and patient with our two kitties, taking the time to get to know each of their personalities and their needs during our absence. Emily noticed that one of our kitties was a little down for the first couple of days and monitored her very carefully, kept us updated with detailed messages, and worked with her to feel confident and secure. Our other kitty tends to be a little afraid of the world and she went out of her way to try to bond with him at his pace in a way that he was most comfortable. We will definitely be scheduling Emily moving forward and highly recommend her!

Emily was absolutely amazing! We booked her last minute for a couple days over the weekend due to our original sitter falling through, and she came through! You can tell she truly loves the cats she watches as her own - she sent me multiple pictures from every visit and included a detailed message on what happened during the visits. She asked questions when she wasn't sure of something, and made me feel secure in knowing my babies were in great hands. Will definitely be using her again the next time we go out of town!!

Emily did a great job for us and our cat staying overnight with him for the entire holiday week. She allowed him to warm up to her at his pace and sent us updates and pictures. We could tell Spencer was happy and calm upon our return so we know he liked Emily. The weather was bad over a few of our days away and she offered and took care of the facets and cabinet doors for us so pipes would not freeze. She cleaned up after herself, kitchen, bathroom and laundered and remade the bed so we didn't have to deal with that late at night. She took very good care of our cat and home. We never worried. Thank you Emily!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Overland Park cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
