Over the years, we’ve had Kitty, Baxter, Tiger, Mystic, Ellie, and Salem. They all lived long, happy lives with us. Ellie lives with my father, while Salem is my cat and very much considers me his favorite hooman.
Salem has dealt with crystals and UTIs, so I understand how important routine, consistency, and patience can be when caring for a cat with specific needs. He’s also on a veterinary diet, and when my boyfriend and his black Lab, Oreo, moved in, I made sure Salem had plenty of space and consistency while he adjusted. He eventually learned to tolerate them both, although he still occasionally likes to remind everyone who was here first... Hi! I’m Kylie, and I’ve grown up around cats my entire life. My family has cared for over 10 cats throughout the years, starting with a stray who chose our family as a safe place to have her kittens. Cats have been a huge part of my life ever since.

Outside of living with a slobbering dog and a noisy man, Salem is a very extroverted and easygoing gentleman!
I’m happy to help with feeding, fresh water, litter boxes, playtime, attention, and company while you’re away. I’ll also send pictures and updates so you can see how your cat is doing.
I’m comfortable giving simple, easy-to-administer medications and can also handle things like inhalers or ear/eye drops, depending on the cat. If a cat is already comfortable with their medication and will cooperate with a stranger, I’m happy to help. However, if even simple medications cause significant stress, or if a cat becomes fearful or defensive during administration, I’d rather recommend a sitter with more experience handling medication for stressed or defensive cats. I never want a cat to associate my visits with something scary or stressful.
Most importantly, I know every kitty is different. Whether they’re cuddly, playful, shy, independent, or need extra time to warm up, I’ll respect their personality, routine, and boundaries and give them the time and space they need to feel safe and comfortable. They are our family after all!

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I’m very particular about keeping doors locked. My friends joke that I lock my apartment up like Fort Knox, so I’m naturally careful about home security. I’m also familiar with cats who try to make a run for the door. Salem is a bit of an escape artist himself, so I know to be especially careful when entering and exiting. If your cat is also an escape artist, I’ll make sure to enter carefully while blocking the doorway with my body so they can’t slip past me. I also make sure not to leave anything potentially dangerous or tempting within reach and will ask the cat parent about anything in the home that their cat could get into. My goal is to leave the home as I found it while making sure the cat stays safe and secure.
Are you usually available during holidays?
It depends on the holiday and the year. My family all lives in different states, so sometimes I’ll travel to see them and sometimes they’ll travel here. It really just depends on the holiday, the year, and who has enough PTO lol.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I let them set the pace and never force interaction. I use a soft voice, treats, toys, and calm visits to help them get comfortable with my scent, face, and voice. If they hide, I won’t force them out. I may gently play with a toy near their hiding spot or leave treats within their view and let them decide whether to come out. They may not come out during the visit, and that’s okay. Repeated, calm visits can help them learn that I’m safe. I also pay attention to body language, since cats are usually pretty straightforward about how they’re feeling. If they’re hissing or showing signs of fear, I give them more space. I never pick up a cat unless they’re comfortable with me doing so.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
