I'm Sharleen

Cat Sitting in Leominster, MA

Hello! My name is Sharleen, and I would love the opportunity to care for your cat while you’re away.

I’ve lived with cats my entire life and have been caring for cats professionally for several years through pet-sitting services and my part-time work. I have experience with cats of all ages and personalities, from energetic kittens to senior cats, including those requiring extra attention, special accommodations, and hospice care.

I understand that every cat is different. Some cats are social and playful, while others need a little extra patience and space. My goal is always to make your cat feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while maintaining their normal routine as much as possible.

One thing i like to provide is staying for a full hour during every visit. This gives your cat plenty of time for feeding, fresh water, litter box care, playtime, affection, medication administration if needed, or simply quiet companionship...

This gives your cat plenty of time for feeding, fresh water, litter box care, playtime, affection, medication administration if needed, or simply quiet companionship. Whether your cat wants to chase toys, curl up for pets, or cautiously peek out from under the bed, I’ll meet them where they’re comfortable.

My pricing is simple and straightforward: it is per visit, not based on the number of cats or how the hour is spent, so you’ll always know exactly what to expect.

For scheduling, I generally ask for at least two weeks’ notice whenever possible. My work schedule changes from week to week, and advance notice helps ensure I can dedicate the time your cats deserve. However, if you need care on short notice, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Depending on my availability, I may be able to accommodate last-minute requests.

Before your booking, please let me know:

• Your cat’s personality and comfort level around strangers
• Any dietary restrictions or feeding instructions
• Medical conditions, medications, or special care needs
• Physical limitations that may require extra attention
• Favorite toys, games, and activities
• Things your cat dislikes or finds stressful
• Any additional information that would help me provide the best care possible

For your cat’s safety, I do not allow cats outdoors while they are in my care. Please also let me know if there are any areas of the home that are off-limits or any household rules you would like me to follow.

I look forward to meeting you and your feline family members!

Learn More About Sharleen

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I currently have a senior cat named Mona. She was abandoned before coming into my life, and we believe she is around 21 years old—and still going strong! Mona has kidney disease and can be a picky eater, so making sure she gets enough food and stays comfortable sometimes requires extra patience and attention. Caring for her has given me valuable experience with the unique needs of senior cats and those with ongoing medical conditions. She loves being near me, though she’s not much of a lap cat—and that’s perfectly okay. I’ve learned that every cat shows affection differently. I give her the space she needs, and she always lets me know when she’s ready for attention.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Before any new booking, I schedule a complimentary meet-and-greet visit. This gives me the opportunity to learn your cat's routine, see where food, litter, medications, and other supplies are located, and, of course, meet your cat! I believe this step is important because it allows your cat to become familiar with me before their owner's trip. After all, most cats would be a little unsure if a complete stranger suddenly started showing up in their home. Taking the time to meet beforehand can help make the experience less stressful for everyone involved. The meet-and-greet also gives us a chance to get to know each other, discuss your cat's individual needs, answer questions, and address any concerns you may have. The visit is always free of charge. As your travel dates approach, we can arrange a convenient time for key pickup and review any last-minute instructions.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Many cats are naturally cautious around new people, which is one reason I like to schedule a meet-and-greet before a new booking. A positive first introduction can make future visits much less stressful for your cat, and if they have a favorite treat, having me offer it during our first meeting can help create a positive association. When caring for shy or anxious cats, I never force interaction. I announce myself when I enter the home and check their usual hiding spots to make sure they’re okay. Patience is key. Some cats warm up quickly, while others need more time. Because I stay for a full hour during each visit, shy cats can observe me at their own pace without feeling pressured while I quietly go about my tasks. By letting the cat decide if and when they want to interact, they can build trust and learn that I’m a safe presence.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Leominster cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
