I volunteer with the nonprofit Boston's Forgotton Felines. We are caretakers who feed, TNR, foster, and rehome friendly cats. Taking care of strays started as a kid, sneaking into the neighbor's tree house to feed the neighborhood strays. It was a large treehouse with a roof, safe from predators.
Former strays, ferals, seniors, and what you may call spicy cats are some of my favorites to care for... Hey there! My name is Kristen, and I'm a life long cat owner/enthusiast.

Former strays, ferals, seniors, and what you may call spicy cats are some of my favorites to care for. The ones who have been misunderstood, and have been overlooked for adoption potential. I am patient, and understand their quirks and needs.
But, your kitty doesn't need to be spicy for me to care for them. I know it can be super stressful to leave your babies and I promise I will do everything I can to alleviate that stress.
Caring for cats is an absolute privilege, and the best part of my day is making sure our neighborhood cats are having access to regular meals.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've been catsitting for neighbors since I was a teenager. I live in a condo with maybe 60 other units, and word of mouth has spread that if neighbors go on vacation, I'm the one to text for cat care.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have 2 kitties, they are sisters from the same litter. They were on "the list" from NYC animal control, then transported to Boston for adoption. They are tuxedo cats named Mango and Chutney. We adopted them when they were a year and a half old, and we've had them for 9 years. They were found in Staten Island eating from a dumpster behind a pizza shop. They were feral when we first got them, and it took maybe 2 years for them to feel accustomed to the good indoor life.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Absolutely. My family is local down in Hyde Park, so if I'm celebrating holidays with them, they are just 6 miles down the road.

We were away for two weeks while Kristen watched over our cat family. She stayed in constant contact with us and sent daily pictures. Her meticulous care of our kids made our trip more enjoyable. She is, by far, the best we have ever had - and we've had several. One of our cats has special needs requiring special care. She gave us daily reports and cleaned up multiple mishaps. when I travel, I have my brother check on my cat, but he is allergic so he can't really give her all the loves she needs! I decided to reach out to Kristen and I'm so happy she was able to come over to check on Rosie and just be with her. Rosie was a bit shy, but having Kristen there helped her feel less alone. Kristen came over bearing treats, cleaned the litter box, and made sure Rosie had enough clean water and food. I came home to a very happy kitty, that usually is mad at me when I return. She's giving me so much cuddles and love 🥰 Thank you, Kristen. We appreciate you!! I would definitely book Kristen again to check on my baby 😻 because, you know what they say, happy cat, happy life!

When my cat sitter cancelled with short notice, I found Meowtel and Kristen. I am glad I did! In our initial meeting, Kristen demonstrated great knowledge of cat behavior. She let the cats take the lead and moved slowly with my more shy kitty. Throughout the sitting job, she was very communicative and sent lots of photos, videos, and updates. It is clear the Kristen truly loves cats and is dedicated to taking excellent care of them. Over the course of the weekend, Kristen earned my trust as well as the trust of both cats. She was very communicative, provided regular updates which really gave me peace of mind. My girl can be a bit shy but she was quick to become comfortable with Kristen. Love Kristen! She is patient and kind. Her love of cats shows and we appreciate that. She patiently cared for our cat house and took time to pet and photo each one. She is also very respectful and took time to clean before she left. When we get home from a trip, we typically spend an hour cleaning up. It was so nice to come home from a late flight and go right to bed!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Roxbury cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $32.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
