I previously cared for a 5-year-old tabby cat who belonged to my roommate, and I had to say goodbye when he moved to another city. Today, I have a one-year-old tabby cat of my own named Nora!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
I recommend ensuring that the scheduled cat-sitting time is accurate. As a cat parent myself, I’ve had experiences in the past where I hired a sitter for one hour per day for a week, but on some days the full hour wasn’t spent with my cat. Because of that experience, I make it a point to send a photo showing my arrival and departure times so you can feel confident that your pet is receiving the full time and care you requested.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I’m very familiar with timid or anxious cats because my own cat is one of them. I approach them with patience and respect for their space. When I enter the home, I move slowly and avoid loud noises or sudden movements so I don’t startle them. I also give them time to observe me and let them come to me on their own terms, allowing them to smell me and get comfortable at their own pace. I never force interaction. Some cats may prefer to stay hidden at first, and that’s completely okay. My goal is to create a calm, safe environment where they can gradually feel secure. Over time, many shy cats become more curious and relaxed once they realize I’m not a threat.

This was my first time hiring a cat sitter, and Daeun gives me very good impression. She is very caring toward cats. My Bella is especially timid, particularly around strangers. She usually hides and doesn’t approach anyone except me. But after just 1–2 days, Bella began to trust Daeun very much. Daeun is very responsible—she fed Bella on time every day and cleaned the litter box. She also spent extra time playing with Bella. She sent daily updates with videos and photos. Bella had a great time with her. I will definitely ask Daeun to take care of Bella again in the future.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Germantown cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
