Cat Sitting in Middle River, MD
Animals have always been a passion of mine ever since I was a little kid. I was “that” kid who always tried to bring a new animal into the house every other day. At age 12, I started to volunteer and later down the line worked at a horse stables for many years. I cared for and handled their horses, cats, and dogs. Following special diets, exercise routines, and administrating medicine was not a problem! Working at the stables also gave me a lot of experience working with animals of all life stages... Hi! I'm Erin and I’m 26 years old. I grew up around all kinds of animals. Cats, horses, and dogs are the animals I have the most experience with.
Working at the stables also gave me a lot of experience working with animals of all life stages. Especially with senior pets. Some of whom were blind or deaf.
I have experience with cats who require Insulin and Thyroid medication every twelve hours as well as those who require pills orally and can administer those if needed. Scooping litter boxes and washing out food/water bowls are included in each visit. I am also familiar with most litter box setups and automatic feeders of both dry and wet food.
I'd be more than happy to play with your cat during our visits if they're up for it. If not, I'm ready to be a calm presence for them and will wait for your cat to initiate interactions on their own terms. I have been pet sitting for 10+ years and turned it into my full-time job over 6 years ago. I absolutely love working in this field and can’t wait to meet you and your kitties!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I grew up with cats and have been cat/pet sitting since I was 16. I decided to try pet sitting full time in 2019 and have been doing it ever since! It truly is my dream job! I am familiar with most automatic feeder and litter box set ups. I also have worked with cats who have diabetes, Thyroid problems, and Kidney disease. I can administer insulin shots, oral pills, and trans dermal medication if needed.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
My favorite cat sitting has to be when I watched a sister and brother duo for 8 months while their owner worked abroad. The owner let me know that they are very very skittish and will probably not come out for me at all during the eight months he would be away. Especially the female cat. I made sure to at least get my eyes on them each day to make sure they were ok and gave them space during our visits to not stress them out. Slowly but surely they started to feel comfortable enough to sit with me in the same room, but at a distance. After about 4 months the male cat initiated contact and just melted in my lap which felt like a huge victory! The female cat followed soon after and the owner was so shocked, but so happy they came out for me!
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I sadly do not have any cats of my own currently, but grew up with two cats Lady and Kitty (I didn't pick very creative names as a kid haha). Lady was a stray kitten we found on our front porch and Kitty was a rescue. They fit into our family perfectly and put up with my sister and I's antics. They loved to be pushed around in a baby stroller or on a skate board. I miss them dearly!
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
Firstly, I require a meet and greet for all new clients before accepting a booking. This is to ensure I am a good fit for the potential client and their cat(s). I try to be as thorough as possible and like to go over the following things: your cats routine, what their day typically looks like, feeding schedules, litter box habits, any medical conditions, medications, allergies, and any potential quirks they may have that I should know about.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
All cats will be inside for the duration of the visits while you are gone and all windows will remain closed to avoid them slipping out. I do not let cats outside while under my care.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, I work every holiday of the year!
What is your favorite cat toy?
I love using any kind of wand toy. I find the wand toy called "Go Cat Da Bird" to be really popular with playful kitties!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I give anxious and timid cats a lot of space. I try to be quiet and make slow movements as to not stress them out. If they're more receptive to interacting around meal times Id prefer to schedule visits around then. Food and treats can be a way to a timid kitty's heart and will help them build a positive association to me.

Erin is a blessing! One of our three cats has diabetes and Hass to be fed separately from the others twice a day. Aaron was there on time both times every day and made us feel very secure and knowing that they were being taken care of. She sent us updates every time she went and pictures to go along with it. I would highly recommend Erin to anyone who needs a sitter! We will definitely be using her again, no question!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.
Middle River cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
