My husband and I grew up with dogs, but have been solidly converted to cat people over the past few years from interacting with and pet sitting for our friends on the regular when they traveled. Beyond taking care of her while her owner was out of town, our neighbor cat, Tiger, came to visit all the time for cuddles, play time, and lap naps before she passed this year - we miss her a lot. Our landlord currently doesn't allow pets, so I'm really hoping to be able to share my newfound love and care for your kitties if you feel like I will be a good fit.
I realize that not all cats are alike and some may want more or less attention. I'm happy to work with your cat(s) needs and comfort levels... Hello! My name is Courtney and I am a friendly Georgia native currently living in Silver Spring. I am excited to meet and care for some of your lovely kitties in the greater DC area!

I realize that not all cats are alike and some may want more or less attention. I'm happy to work with your cat(s) needs and comfort levels. I would never force an interaction (though as my listing title jokes, I am happy to pet!) - I let them come to me for pets or play so we can build up trust. I'm happy to either chill and read with your kitty or join in on a zoomies session—whatever they're in the mood for!
During a visit, I'm glad to:
- Feed your cat(s) according to any guidelines you provide
- Administer medication as needed (I am experienced with drops and oral medication administration)
- Play and cuddle
- Clean the litterbox
- Send cute pics/video (have to pay the cat tax, haha!) and updates on your cat(s) if you'd like
- Bring in any mail to your apartment/house and/or water plants
My schedule is currently flexible as I was recently relieved from the federal workforce, so I have plenty of time to cuddle and play with your kitties. I try to keep my visits between the hours of 9am - 10pm though. Additionally, I try keep my travel time to within 30 minutes of Silver Spring, but could be willing to travel a bit further if needed. What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've been sitting for my neighbors' cats in the Silver Spring area for multi-day trips for a few years now. Usually these visits involve feeding, play , and litterbox scooping. One of these cats required oral medications so I have experience administering pills etc as well.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Since I cannot have my own pet at this time due to renting in a pet-free apartment, I really miss the love and connection that comes with being around animals. The times of play or even just sitting and quietly cuddling with a kitty really warm my heart.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I let the cat lead the interaction. If a cat is particularly nervous, I want to be calm and let them come to me if they want to. I'm more than happy to sit quietly on the floor and read a book while they evaluate and become more comfortable with my presence in their space.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Silver Spring cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

I had to go out of town last minute and needed to find someone to watch my cat Benson while I was gone. Courtney came to the rescue! She was super responsive to my messages, did a thorough meet-and-greet ahead of my reservation to plan ahead for spending time with Benson, and took excellent care of my little guy while I was gone.
