In addition to having experience with my own cats, I also have experience watching cats (and dogs) for friends and family while they were on vacation, as well as over three years of volunteer experience at the New Beginnings Animal Rescue in Royal Oak... Hi, I’m Lu! I’m a MAJOR cat lover who has extensive experience raising and caring for cats and kittens. I currently own two amazing tortoiseshell cats named Nyla and Rye, and owned several Persian, Himalayan and Maine Coon cats growing up so I have a great understanding of how cat personalities and needs can differ between breeds!
In addition to having experience with my own cats, I also have experience watching cats (and dogs) for friends and family while they were on vacation, as well as over three years of volunteer experience at the New Beginnings Animal Rescue in Royal Oak. While volunteering, I took care of and entertained cats/kittens, kept their enclosures clean and spoke with customers to recommend adoptable cats that fit with their home situation.
I truly love spending time with cats, so I am happy to take an individual approach with each cat and am prepared to meet them where they need me to. My two cats have opposite personalities, so I totally understand that some cats may be more anxious, skittish, etc. and need different, more gentle care than cats who are more extroverted. While I’m caring for your cat, I will make sure to treat them as if they were my own and give them the very best care!
Lastly, I just want to mention that I work remotely and have a very flexible schedule, so spending extra time with your pets or schedule changes is not an issue! I’m here to make everything easy for you and your pets while you’re away.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I do! I have 2 two-year-old tortoiseshell cats, their names are Nyla and Rye! They are sisters and have very different personalities; SUPER extroverted and friendly vs. more sweet and shy. I love them both so much! I also owned several cats before Nyla and Rye! Their names were Smokey, Caesar, Oliver, Demi, Dottie, Gucci, Tika, Eenie, Gus, Kirby and Luka.
What is your favorite cat toy?
My favorite cat toy has to be a feather wand for sure! I've found that the majority of cats love playing with feather wands, and I enjoy using them as well because it's a more interactive way to play with cats compared to a catnip mouse or automatic toy.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I like to take a much more gentle and patient approach with anxious cats. I make sure to move slowly, act calm/relaxed, and give the cat the chance to sniff me/check me out before I approach them. I have an anxious/more timid cat at home so I always act this way around her in order to keep her feeling safe and comfortable. I almost act this way around all cats as a default because I know it’s common for cats to feel anxious when they first meet someone new and want to show that they can trust me.

From the start, I knew we had made a great decision in choosing Lauren to watch our cats. During the meet and greet, she asked questions and took notes to ensure she understood our routine and how to work our tech gadgets. Her disposition and attitude immediately put us at ease. During our nearly three week trip, Lauren communicated with us every day, giving us updates on our babies and sending pictures. When one of our automatic feeders began acting up, she proactively worked to troubleshoot the problem and found work-arounds to accommodate our cat’s feeding schedules as necessary. Her messages were always positive and reassuring and it truly enabled us to have a carefree vacation knowing our cat babies were being taken care of. I cannot recommend her enough and definitely intend on booking her again in the very near future!!!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Grosse Pointe cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
