As an avid animal lover who grew up with several cats and is currently the proud parent of 3 wonderful kitties, pet care felt like a natural fit. My journey began in 2021 as a kennel attendant at my local vet clinic, where I fell even more in love with animal care and saw firsthand how much a calm, knowledgeable presence can mean to a nervous pet. After several months there, I transitioned to pet sitting for friends, family, and a growing clientele. I've been petsitting full-time for over 3 years and am loving every second... Hi, I'm Genie (she/they), a full-time professional pet sitter! I earned a bachelor's in dietetics, but after several years working in that field, I knew I needed to reevaluate. After the pandemic, I took a leap and pursued a complete career change.

Pet-sitting is my full-time career, and I treat it with the same seriousness as any licensed profession. My drop-in visits typically occur between 7AM and 9PM. During each visit, I take care of feeding, refreshing water, administering any medications, and cleaning litter boxes or messes. With any remaining time, I follow your kitty's lead. Some cats want playtime and cuddles, others prefer quiet companionship, and I tailor every visit accordingly. I'm also happy to water houseplants, collect mail, or handle other small tasks within the scheduled time.
I'm a Fear Free Certified professional pet sitter, comprehensively insured & bonded, and am certified in pet CPR + first aid. I believe good pet care starts with empathy: reading each animal's comfort level and adjusting my approach rather than expecting them to adjust to mine. I love building relationships with each cat I care for, especially helping shy or anxious ones feel safe and comfortable!
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes, 3! Tonks and Finn are siblings I rescued over 7 years ago. They are truly the apples of my eyes, and I couldn’t love them more. I also recently adopted a kitten to add a little chaos to the mix 🤪 little Gus is bringing us all lots of laughter and has been the purrrfect addition.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I always start with an in-person meet & greet to introduce myself and get to know your cat(s). This is a great opportunity to share their routines, needs, and preferences. I’ll also go through my detailed checklist to make sure I have all the information needed to provide safe, personalized care for your furbabies. Once the reservation begins, I will communicate each time I arrive and depart your house, with multiple pics/videos along with a detailed update of how the visit with your kitties went at each departure.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Your cats' safety and your home's security are top priorities. I follow your instructions carefully, secure doors and windows, respect your space, and I'm fully insured and bonded.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, as a full-time professional cat sitter, I am typically available for all major holidays. Reach out today to inquire about any specific holidays or dates!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I go at your cat's pace, using approved treats, toys, or calming pheromones as needed. Trial drop-ins are available beforehand too - message me anytime to discuss your furbaby's needs! 🐾

This was our second time reserving Genie as our sitter and it will not be the last! She is a true pet care professional, sending detailed check ins after each visit along with so many adorable pictures! Our cat is shy and afraid of new people and situations but she opened right up to Genie and would even wait in the window watching for her arrival! I can’t recommend Genie enough, she takes pet care seriously and as an overly concerned pet owner, it gives me so much comfort to know she is there to provide the care my cat needs. She even graciously did laundry after my cat had an unexpected accident so we could come home to a clean home after vacation. Thank you Genie!!

Genie was beyond amazing. She fit us into her schedule when we had a last minute change of plans. Our cat is high maintenance and needs medicine twice daily along with special potty needs as she’s a senior- Genie handled it all with patience and professionalism. Her updates were thorough and gave me such peace of mind that my kitty was being well taken care of while we were away. She truly is a cat lover and will take great care of your kitties!

We found ourselves in need of a kitty-sitter for the weekend that was adept at giving meds. We've never used a service before. I found Meowtel's website and was thrilled there were so many caregivers to choose from. I was drawn to Genie's profile because of her experience and great reviews. She was quick to respond and offered several days/times for the initial meet and greet. Genie was warm and friendly and mindful of how the cats may perceive a new visitor. She was thorough and didn't rush. By the end of our first meeting, we were relieved to have been able to book with Genie and were not stressed at all about leaving our cars in her care. Everything went super smooth. Genie always messaged us about her arrival and how the furbabies were doing during the visits. She included lots of pictures too. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Sterling Heights cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $27.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

We loved Genie so much the first time we booked them, we booked them again! While we are away, Genie provides stellar care for our indoor and community cats. Genie is an excellent cat sitter for my 2 cats. She genuinely cares about animals and my cats are obsessed with her. In terms of her ability to take care of my animals she is detail orientated, professional, and communicative. Every session begins with a text letting me know she's there. When she is done she provides a long message with lots of the details including how many excrements and quality of them, how much did they eat, temperament, anything that was different, how they played, and what they did while she was there. Lastly, she always provides a ton of photos of my kitties! I highly recommend Genie, I wish I could keep her a secret so she doesn't get booked up by you will love having her take care of your kitties!
