I have been providing pet care for several years, including caring for cats through drop-in visits and in-home sitting. During this time, Iāve worked with cats of different personalities, from very social and playful to shy, independent, and anxious cats. Iām comfortable following detailed care instructions, including feeding schedules, litter box maintenance, and monitoring behavior and health. I pay close attention to small changes in appetite, energy, or habits, as those can be important indicators of a catās well-being. I also have experience working in multi-pet households and understand how to manage separate feeding routines and spaces when needed to keep cats comfortable and stress-free.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I like to start with a meet and greet to learn about the catās routine, personality, and any specific needs. I ask about feeding schedules, litter habits, favorite toys, hiding spots, and any medical or behavioral considerations. During visits, I follow the established routine as closely as possible to minimize stress. I make sure food and water are fresh, litter boxes are clean, and I spend time interacting with the cat based on their comfort levelāwhether thatās playtime, petting, or simply being a calm presence nearby. I also provide detailed updates after each visit, including photos, notes on behavior, appetite, and anything unusual. My goal is to give cat parents peace of mind and make sure their cat feels safe and cared for while theyāre away.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
With timid or anxious cats, I always take a slow and patient approach. I never force interaction and allow the cat to come to me on their own terms. I keep my movements calm and predictable and give them space to observe and feel safe. I pay attention to body language and adjust my approach based on the catās comfort level. For some cats, that may mean sitting quietly nearby and speaking softly, while for others it may involve gentle play to build trust. Consistency is very important, so I follow their routine closely and avoid unnecessary changes. Over time, this helps build trust and allows even more reserved cats to feel more comfortable during visits.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
