I have 2 adult cats of my own, always had cats growing up, and was actively involved in cat rescue/TNR/fostering/adoptiong/feeding colonies in California for three years, prior to mo... I have 2 adult cats of my own, always had cats growing up, and was actively involved in cat rescue/TNR/fostering/adoptiong/feeding colonies in California for three years, prior to moving to CO in 2024. I understand a cat has to get comfortable with a stranger at their own pace, and I can read the signs a cat gives off so I absolutely respect their boundaries. I always do my best to gain the trust of any new cat I meet, but I understand some cats warm up faster than others, and that’s perfectly fine.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Kiki is a 5 year old petite tuxedo female who I rescued as a kitten. My original plan was to foster her until I found her an adopter, but very quickly we bonded and I became “her person.” Chin Chin is a 4 year old female “cow cat” (white with black markings) who was one of five kittens in a litter I rescued…her siblings are all thriving in homes of their own, and their mama was trapped, spayed, & returned to her community where she is looked after every day.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Trust your instincts! When you meet a prospective cat sitter, pay attention to the energy/vibe they give off to you, and your cat(s), as well as their words.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I understand all cats have unique personalities and will warm up to a stranger at their own pace. If it takes your kitty awhile to get comfortable with me, that’s ok, I’m patient. If, for example, during a visit they just want to hide, I will still provide them with everything they need, while talking to them the entire time so they know I’m there as a friend.

Jessica was amazing! She somehow had my skittish cat comfortable enough to come out and eat at her dish on day one, which is a feat no other cat sitter has been able to do. She was so thoughtful and asked about things I hadn't even thought of to make sure she was doing everything she could for our kitties. Also, she was very communicative and sent great pictures to show how our cats were doing. She even missed my plants for me. I would trust her watch our cats anytime!

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
