After 3️⃣ years with Meowtel, I can confidently navigate any cat behavioral issue (although sometimes it does take some trial and error and creativity 😹), and I'm rarely stumped by a cat's behavior anymore.
I have owned cats most of my life, and I have also volunteered at the ASPCA as a cat matchmaker. Currently I own two sweet siamese mix kitties who I raised from kittenhood... I've loved cats all my life - to me they are the sweetest, most beautiful and loving creatures. I love and respect kitties and I believe to do so, we have to love them on their terms. I'm a bit of a cat behavior nerd 🐈🤓, and I've watched all of Jackson Galaxy's (the cat whisperer) shows. I have been called a cat whisperer myself, and easily make friends with strays, shy kitties, "mean" (personally, I don't believe in mean cats, and will fight anyone who blames poor behavior on the cat 😾) kitties, picky kitties... You name it!

Recently, my cat Ruby has had some medical issues🩹, so I'm experienced with giving kitties tablet, liquid, topical or injectable medicine 💊, handling a kitty cone or kitty outfit, kitty transportation 🚗, etc. Additionally, while not strictly cat-related, I have experience as a volunteer whelping 3 litters of puppies, which made me comfortable with more intense and involved veterinary issues.
So far, I have 100+ human clients, and 240+ kitty friends, who I love as my own 😻! I get rave reviews for my attention to detail, all the love and snuggles I give to kitties, and MANY cat pics & videos 📸 that I send to the kitty parents each day. I hope you and your cat(s) are next 😸!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've been cat sitting through Meowtel for 3 years, but I've been a cat lover since I can remember, and have always been involved in cat sitting or volunteering with cats.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love making friends with new cats and getting to play and get lots of snuggles, boops and headbutts 😻.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
One of the most rewarding experiences for me is when I have lots of time to interact with a cat, and I'm able to bond with them - especially when I put in the time with a very shy kitty, and they open up to me ❤️
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Of course!!! My kitties are 2 beautiful 7-year-old siamese-mixes named Castiel (Cas) and Ruby. I love them to pieces 😻.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
First, I would say to go with your gut, and seek out someone who you feel you can trust, and who you think will do well with your cat. You can get a feel for most sitters from the specific things that clients tend to praise in the reviews. So if you're looking for someone who is very communicative, who is good with kitty behavioral issues, or who can accommodate specific schedules, check for those kinds of things in the comments 😺 If you have specific questions or needs you're not sure about, it's better to message the sitter and ask before making the reservation.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I start off with a new client by messaging them through the Meowtel app to schedule a meet and greet, and answer any general questions. At a meet and greet, I like to really take my time and get to know both the client and the kitties. It usually takes 30-60 minutes (60-90 minutes for overnights), and I have a mental checklist that I go over until both myself and the client feel satisfied and comfortable. Then, I communicate with the client throughout each visit, and I make sure to check in as questions or concerns come up. I like to seek feedback and make sure that I'm meeting their needs as well.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
It's pretty easy to keep everyone safe and secure when you follow Meowtel policies 😺👍🏻. Basically, kitties never leave the home, and nobody besides myself enters the home, and I keep the key on my person at all times. I also always discuss the emergency policy with new clients, make sure I know where cat carriers are, and how to contact the client quickly in case of emergency. For homes with aggressive kitties or multi-cat homes with behavioral issues, I thoroughly question the client at the meet and greet, and follow all directions closely. If ever I feel that I can't safely complete a task, I use my best judgment and keep the client updated to the situation.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yep! I usually stay local during holidays, but I may have family events, which means I'll get to kitties a little later in the evening so I can spend time with my family too 💕.
What is your favorite cat toy?
A feather wand is a crowd favorite, and can usually get the majority of cats interested in playing! Also, you can get some great exercise for the kitties that way! My new fav specific toy is the Purr-Peller by GOCat
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I consider myself particularly skilled with shy and nervous cats, as my reviews show 😺. I use a lot of cat behaviorism skills to establish myself as a calm, non-threatening presence, and I always go at the shy kittie's pace, and I'm careful never to cross their personal boundaries. Several clients have remarked that I've gotten their shy kitties not only to come out of hiding, but to open up and snuggle or play with me!

Not only did she do a great job with insulin injections for my very senior, diabetic kitty, she was patient with the litter box challenges we are struggling with and even offered suggestions for new litter brands that might work better. Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Raleigh cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $24.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

Sydel was a fantastic sitter during our almost week-long vacation! Our cat Lupin is very vocal, a little skittish around strangers, and has some special needs, but Sydel was super on top of it all and the two of them became fast friends. Sydel provided very frequent updates and pictures, including images of his food preparation and litter box contents, which helped us with missing our kitty and also gave us peace of mind that everything was going well. Sydel took excellent care of our babies while we traveled out of the country. One of our cats got sick while we were away and she took him to the vet, communicated with the vet and kept us updated 100% of the time. Sydel is amazing. She was able to help me out with my two boy kitties on super short notice. She is incredibly thoughtful, kind, thorough, and competent. One of my babies was recently diagnosed with cancer and is on a ton of medication including chemo. Sydel kept a really close eye on him, monitoring how much he ate and even his pees and poops! Sydel administered his medicine and went above and beyond to try and make him comfortable (and to make sure I was comfortable!!) Sydel is a great sitter and an even better teammate— she cares for your animals as if they were her own. I will definitely be booking her again!

The reviews are true: Sydel is awesome! We moved to NC with no support around and were very nervous about leaving our kitties when we had to to leave town for the first time for a few nights. Sydel was incredible about keeping us updated - from her detailed messages to her photos. We knew our babies were in the best hands! We also came home to a clean kitty area and she seemed to have tidied up a bit for us which was so appreciated. 10/10 recommend her!!

Sydel was amazing, so thorough and attentive. She took such great care of our cats, giving them so much love and play time. My cats love Sydel! I actually think they were a bit disappointed to see me instead of their new playmate when I returned from my trip. ;-) It was as if I never left. My cat, Maggie, is a very shy girl. She never comes out when strangers are in the house. But Sydel was just wonderful with her. And she actually got Maggie to come out of her shell (and her hiding spot)! I was very anxious since this my first time leaving Maggie at home for an extended period, but with all the updates and photos and videos I was able to relax on vacation knowing my kitty was in good hands! She makes time for everything, including play time. Coming home from a trip has never been easier because things are so clean and tidy. While we were on vacation we found out our apartment was having a fire inspection and Sydel kindly moved our kitties and all their essentials to our bedroom to keep them safe and secure until the inspection was over. Sydel's an amazing sitter. I really appreciate how well she took care of Saphira and how attentive she is at noticing if something was wrong with my cat. Great photos as well!

Sydel was so perfect, very detail-oriented! My cats are a bit quirky so I appreciate that she was willing to listen to everything I needed. No complaints, would totally book her again!

Sydell is fantastic. She was able to accommodate a last minute visit when I got stuck at the airport. She even followed up to make sure I made it home! She really cares and that is a rare find! 😻😻😻
