I am extremely passionate about animal welfare... My name is Jamie and I am an avid animal person! I’ve been taking care of others’ pets or my own for nearly my entire life and I would love to talk to you about taking care of your furry friends. Let me tell you a little about myself. Up until recently, I resided in Montclair, NJ, just a few steps away from Glen Ridge and a short drive from Bloomfield. While I no longer live in the immediate area, I'm not far away and would love to come back and visit while taking care of your fur babies!
I am extremely passionate about animal welfare. Until a few years ago, I had two beloved pets, Bandit (tabby cat, passed away at 18 years in 2020) and Whipple (American Eskimo/Shepherd mix, passed away at 14 years in 2016), both of which were rescued from shelters in California. I take a lot of pride in the fact that they were healthy, happy, and incredibly loved members of my family.
While living in NJ, I volunteered with Montclair Township Animal Shelter and while living in San Diego, I volunteered with Shelter Pet Partners for five years. During my time volunteering there, I fostered and helped find loving homes for several kittens, cats, and dogs. I have experience with pets of all ages and temperaments and am comfortable administering medications. I have excellent references and am looking forward to providing excellent care for your pets!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been cat sitting for most of my life, starting when I was in high school and continuing on and off as an adult (so for 20+ years!). I am extremely passionate about animals, particularly felines. When I was able, I would foster cats and kittens. Through this work I became familiar with taking care of new cat moms and their litters, orphaned kittens as young as 3 days old, and cats who might need special medications and/or diets. I'm very comfortable around cats of all ages, types, and personalities. Caring for kitties always brings me a tremendous amount of joy and fulfillment!
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love being able to give my clients peace of mind while they are away, knowing that their furry friends are receiving the best care possible. It also brings me great joy to meet new kitties and build relationships with them, whether they are extroverted, playful, cuddle-bugs or need some time and space to warm up to me (being generous with treats helps!). Cat sitting fulfills the natural caregiver in me and it would be my pleasure to share that with your kitty!
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
When I receive an inquiry I try to respond within 1 hour if the message is sent within business hours and 12 hours if the message is sent before/after hours or on weekends. If I'm available for the cat sitting opportunity then I'll arrange a meet-and-greet, where humans and kitties alike can introduce ourselves in person and I can learn the details of my client's needs. Should things still seem like a good fit, we'll move forward with the booking and exchange information so we can remain in contact to confirm dates, times, and details.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
It's always my goal for my clients return to a happy kitty and clean home. I always check to make sure doors and windows are locked, that only windows with screens are opened, and that doors to spaces that might be unsafe to your pet are kept shut. I inquire about specific care directions to make sure that I feed and clean up after your pet according to their needs and I'm extremely responsible with pet medications. I'll ask for vet information (both regular and emergency), as well as the location of your cat's carrier in case there is ever a need for us to use them.

Jamie asked all the right questions when we met before the cat sitting and sent great photos and updates each reservation for sitting. The feeding cleaning litter changing the water bowl/filling it up was done wonderfully. I would definitely recommend you booking her she is very kind and good with cats.

Last year, I made a move across country from San Francisco, CA to Glen Ridge, NJ with a senior dog (16+) and an 8 year old cat. I had a purrrrfect situation in San Francisco with a dear friend who would stay at my place while traveling. All of that went out the window when I moved and was the biggest stressor and limiting factor with making travel plans. I finally took a leap of faith and found Jamie. She recently stayed at my house and was our cat’s companion for five days. What a gift! She took such incredible care of our cat and gave him the best care. She was so thoughtful during her stay and took great care of the house and checking in to provide fun updates. I really can’t recommend Jamie highly enough!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Montclair cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
