What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve always been the go-to sitter for family & friends over the years, but I made it my official “side gig” in late 2021. Along with being a touring musician I was also a wedding planner for 25 years, up until March 2020. Once Covid happened, I took that as an opportunity to focus solely on the things I held closest to my heart…. Family, music & my love of animals! It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I truly love getting to be around all different types of cat personalities. I get to be my authentic self around the kitties. I talk to them, sing to them and love our snuggle time. I also take a lot of pride in the level of service I provide. I don’t just go through the motions. I really try to put myself in each clients shoes and not only do what I’m asked of, but try to imagine those “extra things” that would put me at ease when I’m away from my fur babies and my home.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

There are so many so this is actually pretty tough to choose just one but… I have a regular client that I’ve been working with since I first started and one of their two cats is very timid. I was told no one was ever ever able to get the cat to come out from under the bed, but I was sooo patient and tried every trick in the book and after a couple of visits, she not only came out for me but showed me her belly and gave me the slow blinks! I proudly, gained her trust and now we’re best buds!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes we do. Our babies are Nikki & Murray. They are both rescues and I can’t imagine my life without them. (In fact they’re both on the couch sleeping on me as I type this). I always say that Nikki found ME. 12 years ago she was an abandoned stray that ran up to me one night before a show. She’s my little peanut. “Murray the Cat” (think Honeymooners) was brought to my office 12 years ago (before my husband and I were even dating and were only working together!) He had been previously adopted and then brought back because of allergies. I called my guitarist (my now husband!) & he adopted Murray

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Go with your gut when choosing a sitter. Meet them in person. Ask questions and don’t ever be nervous to say exactly how you want your kitties to be cared for. Setting expectations are very important in my opinion & then you hope the sitter goes above and beyond those expectations.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Firstly, I always prefer to do an in person meet and greet, as opposed to virtual. It is helpful for me to go over every detail of how you want your kitties cared for. I am very particular and observant during all of my visits so I always want all cat parents to feel comfortable and confident asking me anything at all. No detail is too small if it’s something that is important to you. Ask as many questions as you’d like and if there’s anything you haven’t thought to ask, I will certainly make sure I cover it with you.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I never let the cats outside of the home, even if asked. I once had a client tell me that it was OK for their cats to go out on the balcony bc that’s what they usually do but I explained anything could happen especially when the parent is not home and for their safety, its a strict policy of mine to keep the cats indoors.For those shy babies that might not come out right away,I always make sure I “have eyes on them” before I finish each visit. I also monitor the temp of the home/look for potential weather if you’re out of town etcI like to rotate the lights so neighbors don’t know you’re away

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes . I am generally around on most holidays and do my best to be flexible with schedules.

What is your favorite cat toy?

Each of my kitty friends have their own favorites, but I find a lot of them love anything with a feather on the end!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I take my time with them and work on their schedule. If you pay close attention, most cats are very good at letting you know their boundaries and comfort levels. I’ve found that singing to them brings them a sense of calm (& probably my silly made up lyrics! Lol).

Wow, what a great experience. I never heard of Meowtel before this and man did we get lucky to find Tammi. She made the experience of leaving my 2 little kitties for the first time very positive. She wasn't just a "cat sitter" she is family. Don't believe me? Just come here and see the cats run to her when she arrives. We got lucky as Tammi lives close to us. She went above and beyond anything that is contracted in this service. She was very detailed in what she was going to do and communicated amazingly during the week, sending us photos, videos and messages from her and our fur babies during this duration. This was more than a service for my wife Cass and I, Skittles and Gracie Puss=this was bringing in an additional family member as her love for these little guys was very apparent, we saw it, but more importantly the kitties saw and knew it. Thank You for your time.

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
