Cat Sitting in Astoria, NY

Hi, I'm Amy, and I've spent more than 20 years caring for animals, with a special focus on cats.

Professionally, I'm the Social Media, Philanthropy & Partnerships Manager for Weruva, but my passion for cats extends far beyond my day job. Between rescue work, fostering, volunteering, nutrition, behavior, and medical care, cats have been at the center of my life for decades.

My experience includes:

🐱 Senior cats
🐱 Kittens and neonatal kittens
🐱 Diabetic cats
🐱 Medication administration (pills, liquids, injections, IV fluids, and more)
🐱 Special-needs cats
🐱 Multi-cat households
🐱 Feral and semi-feral cats
🐱 Shy, fearful, and undersocialized cats
🐱 Behavior observation and enrichment
🐱 Feline nutrition support

I currently foster neonatal kittens and rehabilitation cases through PuppyKitty NYC and volunteer with the rescue every Tuesday. My volunteer responsibilities include:

🐾 Feeding and cleaning
🐾 Medication administration

I currently foster neonatal kittens and rehabilitation cases through PuppyKitty NYC and volunteer with the rescue every Tuesday. My volunteer responsibilities include:

🐾 Feeding and cleaning
🐾 Medication administration
🐾 Intake assistance and health monitoring
🐾 Socialization and enrichment
🐾 Helping cats prepare for adoption
🐾 Supporting kittens, adults, seniors, and medical cases

One of my current foster success stories is Snooki, a formerly feral young cat who arrived scared, defensive, and unsure of people. Through patience, consistency, positive reinforcement, and a lot of treats, she has transformed into a confident, affectionate cat who is now available for adoption. Cats like Snooki have taught me how to read feline body language, respect boundaries, and build trust at each cat's pace.

What you can expect from me:

✨ Detailed visit updates
✨ Lots of photos and videos
✨ Respect for your home and routine
✨ Reliability and clear communication
✨ An experienced eye for changes in behavior, appetite, mobility, litter box habits, and overall wellness
✨ A sitter who understands that every cat is an individual

Whether your cat is a social butterfly, a spicy former street cat, a nervous hider, a food-motivated orange menace, or a senior looking for a quiet companion, I'll care for them exactly how they want to be cared for.

Some cats want cuddles. Some want playtime. Some want me to quietly place dinner under the bed and leave. All are valid, and all will be respected.

Regarding cameras: I completely understand and respect the use of home security cameras; I have them myself. I simply ask that any indoor 📸 be disclosed before visits begin. Due to a personal experience unrelated to pet sitting, I have some anxiety around being recorded without my knowledge. This has absolutely no impact on the quality of care I provide or my willingness to accept bookings. I'm always happy to discuss it further if you have questions.

I can't wait to meet your cat, learn their quirks, and hopefully earn their approval, which every cat person knows is the highest honor possible.

Learn More About Amy

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

On and off for friends, family and clients for over 18 years. Not to mention fostering, many many times with PuppykittyNYC

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Cats are ✨special, which means every experience is special-er. Learning about a new cat is like discovering a planet to me. What is this litter you poop in? Ohhhh you luv ur chin scratched… BUT NOT THERE!!! Okay okay, you really love this food - should I try it too? Seeing a happy cat in a home is just 👌🏻

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

Pun is a client of mine with the ‘beetus so he gets his lil shots twice a day. Except he dgaf about them bc he loooooooves food.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I lost both of my cats in 2025. Mittens was 18 & Bubby was 14. I lost my heart dog, Pickles on Bubby's 1-year anniversary. They each have a little shrine in the apartment but I do have one left, Bó - a rescue during COVID. I use this extra space in my home for feral rehab & kitten care, in their honor.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

For your own sanity, please look for someone responsive. No loving pet sitter would leave you on read for longer than 30 mins (unless they’re like, asleep). The worst mistake I made when hiring a pet sitter was being too loosey-goosey about the amount of communication I needed when I left my pets for my honeymoon.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

You lead, I’ll follow. Talk me through all of your ✨feeeeelings✨ & routines - so you can just “Set it(me) & forget it!”

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Your keys and codes will leave me only to sleep. Otherwise I keep them close to the chest (backpack, actually). Always checking the door when entering and making direct eye contact with the cat(s) to make sure they’re plotting and happy before leaving.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Holidays-shmolidays. My mother is a recently retired hospice nurse who knew that family time was important at anytime, whether on a federal holiday or a random Tuesday in April. And each deserves their equal respect. She instilled in me that the best gift we can give to others during the holidays, is our time. You want to go visit family over St Patrick’s Day? I’ll buy you your first Guinness🍺. Work sucks (I know) and you’re burnt out? I’ll handle the cats while you go get that massage.

What is your favorite cat toy?

➰. ༘. ➰ ༘ ༘ ➰ ༘ ༘ SPRINGS. ༘ ➰ ༘ ༘ ➰

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Little to no 👀 eye contact & no interaction. The cat needs time to adjust, that’s all. Reading body language is key, soft voices & intentional, slow 🐌 movements. NO SPOOKY THE COOKY CAT! Leaving an article of my clothing 🧣👚at the meet & greet to get them used to my smell

I was away for an extended trip and left my cats in Amy's hands during some genuinely rough weather - not easy. She kept me updated throughout, which gave me peace of mind while I was far away. She actually got my shy cat to come out. Anyone who has a skittish cat knows how rare that is — most people who come to the house never even catch a glimpse of him, let alone get him to warm up. She's patient, calm, and genuinely good with cats rather than just going through the motions. I came home to a happy, well-cared-for cat and zero worries.

Amy was everything you could hope for in a catsitter. From the first meeting and throughout the 4 day booking, she exuded true care for my Luna. I received updates and lovely photos and videos that showed that Amy is more than just someone to feed your cat and clean the litter box, she truly engaged with her, even bringing her some new favorite toys. I truly appreciated the care and communication.

Amy is absolutely amazing! You can tell she truly loves animals and just wants them to be happy and well cared for. My cat has two chronic illnesses that require medications twice a day, one of which is an injection, and she administered them without any issue. She will definitely be my go-to cat sitter from now on!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Astoria cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
