Chloe, my inspiration to cat sit, was my very first pet kitty and I’ve missed her terribly. She developed cancer and crossed the rainbow bridge in August 2021. I do admire folks who adopt their fur babies as it’s given them a chance to be loved when they were unloved or abandoned. (Yay adoption!)
Pictured in my background image now, is my latest family addition, Moth! She was gifted to us from one of my Meowtel clients, a kitty rescuer! Thank you for bringing our drop of joy to us. To all my clients, I will continue to photograph your fur babies so you can hold on tight to them while relaxing away.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve cat sat since 2020 on the Housesitter app and then on Meowtel. My experience is diverse to say the least. No two kitties are the same, but once you’re around enough kitties you know which ones are the crazy brave ones, or methodically shy. In each case, they are all just funny little guys living their best lives :)
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love getting to know people that care so deeply for their pets that they’d have someone come in and check in on them. Props to parents! All pets look to us for care and support. I’m just happy to be part of a crowd who can provide individual undivided attention and support to these little ones. That’s how I’d like for my fur babies to be treated. In summary, it’s a two way street to providing care for me. I love to care and these little ones deserve only the best.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I had one kitty in the past, I was 19 or so, desperate to have a kitty and my mom finally caved in (because I said the kitty was for my little sister). I adopted Chloe off of Craigslist days later. I was willing to do anything. Unbeknownst to me, Chloe did have severe health issues and was actually a senior kitty in need of medical care. She lived her last year with us, her best life, sleeping most of the time and running wild at night. She’s the reason I am passionate about caretaking. Our pets can push us to be better in ways we don’t expect.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
I am a finance conscious person, so I stop right there and consider whether this is financially within my means. For this kind of person, I’d encourage you to chat with a few sitters and pick their brain on making the best of a sit. If finance isn’t an issue and you want the best sitter, know that everyone’s been through a screening process. Also, ask the sitter for a meet and greet, catch the vibe and it’s okay if the vibe isn’t there. There are plenty of sitters on the app.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
First, see if our availability matches. Second, meet and greet. This is crucial, because it’s the time to give the pet parent the full run down of what to expect and answer any and all questions. Once the day of the sit begins there is constant communication about when I am en route, eta to the fur baby and an update when I leave. This way the parent knows when the kitty will get the care they deserve.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
During the meet and greet it is essential to disclose any dangers that exist that may harm the kitty or the sitter. Once these things are disclosed it should be smooth sailing as far as safety and security.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Not usually, I will consider sits on occassions or if I get a lot of requests. I know it can be tricky to change sitters if you have a preferred one, but it’s also nice to have a back up!
What is your favorite cat toy?
Whatever the kitty loves!!! I mean cradling and kicking the heck out of the toy love. You know what I mean right?
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Truthfully, I feel excited for these guys because they just need a little bit of time to come around. First things first, I tone down my enthusiasm around these kitties and sit at a safe distance from them. That’s all, for the first few sits. I’ll hand them treats, and maybe talk to them or try and make eye contact. Once the kitty sees I’m not a threat, I’ll slowly reach out to the kitty, offer a toy or more treats until it comes around. These aren’t all the tricks up my sleeve, but there you go:)

So Ashley is the best cat sitter I have ever had, full stop. I received photo evidence daily of them receiving breakfast and litter changes, all sorts. I'm also one of those extra cat people and I care for some nearby strays. Ashley had no issue with this task AND one of my inside cats goes bananas when he sees the strays outside, so needs to be locked away in order to get them fed. Yeah. My apartment was clean and didn't smell like *cat* when I got home which means Ashley definitely cleaned it up for me. Will absolutely book again. Trustworthy, communicative sitter. Thank you so much Ashley!!

I'm mad I can only give Ashley five stars because she deserves ten at least! From confirmation to completion, Ashley was attentive, kind, and consistent. When you meet her for the first time, you immediately sense that she's an animal lover and that she will rely on her intuition and patience with even the most high energy/challenging cats. During our meet and greet, she took detailed notes and asked questions I hadn't even thought to answer. She sent pictures throughout her time with our cats. One of our to cats is exceptionally skittish (she came to us as a semi-feral TNR rescue) and Ashley worked her magic to lure Fortuna out of her usual hiding spots and ingratiate herself to a cat that doesn't even like one of her humans 100% of the time. Our other cat, Apple, used Ashley as a cat bed and made a new human pal. We are new to cats and therefore new to having to find a dedicated and trustworthy cat sitter. I am so thankful we found Ashley here. Planning vacations will be a little less stressful knowing that we can rely on Ashley to watch and love on our kitties.

Ashley is a fantastic sitter. Our cats love her. She sends lots of photos and videos and I never worry when my cats are in her care. I highly recommend Ashley. One of our cats, Apple, has vision issues—Ashley connected her eating issues (Apple INHALES food) to the fact that Apple can’t see predators as well and my feel like she needs to eat quickly so that others won’t eat her food. I’d never thought about it like that before. We just thought Apple is the most good motivated kitty in the world. Ashley’s instincts and knowledge of cats is impressive and even after just two reservations, she knows our cats and their personalities exceptionally well.

Ashley makes sure to keep us updated and sends plenty of pictures so that we don’t miss our babies too much. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.
Bronx cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $32.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Wow! Needed a sitter for my girls and so happy I found Ashley!! My cats, Lynx & Gabby seemed to really like her too, from what I could gather from all the great pictures and videos I received during my vacation. In the past, I've had to worry about sitters not showing up on time, or not showing up at all, and I did not have that same "worry" with Ashley who arrived at roughly the same time each day and was then able to spend some quality time with L & G. I will definitely be booking her again for future needs!!

I can’t praise Ashley enough. When I am away I have no anxiety about my cats if Ashley is caring for them. She has a great way with cats and understands their quirks.
