Brooklyn Cat Sitter Full Visit Notes

I'm Peter

Cat Sitting in Brooklyn, NY

I'm Peter, and I sit for cats in Bushwick, Bed-Stuy, and Ridgewood. My radius is small on purpose: so a stalled subway never gets between your cat and their dinner.

8+ years around cats

How I work. I follow your written instructions exactly and would rather have too many notes than too few. Confident cats get wand play and a lap. Shy cats get the floor: I sit down, stay quiet, and let them decide when to approach. I don't pull anyone out from under a bed. You still get proof of life every visit, even if it's a bad photo of one eye in the dark...

8+ years around cats

How I work. I follow your written instructions exactly and would rather have too many notes than too few. Confident cats get wand play and a lap. Shy cats get the floor: I sit down, stay quiet, and let them decide when to approach. I don't pull anyone out from under a bed. You still get proof of life every visit, even if it's a bad photo of one eye in the dark.

Every visit ends with a written report, not just a photo dump. You get what they ate and how much, litter and water status, how they behaved compared to the last visit, and anything that looked different. I keep notes across visits, so by day four I can tell you your cat is eating less than she was on day one. If something seems wrong, you hear from me right then.

Scheduling. I'm usually available on weekends and holidays, with flexible weekday hours. Message me and we'll find a window.

Medication. Comfortable with oral pills, eye and ear drops, topical ointments. I ask for an in-person meet and greet first, so we can confirm your cat will accept it from me before you leave town.

Learn More About Peter

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

The part I like most is working out a cat's system. Every one of them has rules about where they'll eat, who they'll sit near, and what time they get loud. By the third visit I usually have it, and the cat stops treating me as an event and goes back to their normal day. The other half is on the human side. Someone lands after a long flight, opens my notes, and already knows exactly how the week went.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I start with an in-person meet and greet. I want to see your cat in their own space, watch how you feed them, and learn the hiding spots, the litter setup, and anything in the apartment I should keep an eye on. I ask for written instructions I can keep in front of me, since I'd rather have too much detail than too little. Before you leave, we confirm keys, entry, your vet's contact, and who to call if I can't reach you.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I sit down on the floor and do nothing. No calling them, no reaching under furniture. Most shy cats come out once they've decided I'm boring and stationary, and if they don't, that's their call to make. I'll leave a treat within reach and get on with feeding and litter so they can watch me from somewhere safe. You'll still get proof of life every visit, even if it's a bad photo of one eye under a bed.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Brooklyn cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
