Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I had my own kitty and his name was Sugar! I adopted Sugar who was about 6 years old at the time from an animal shelter and he was severely overweight! I named him Sugar because he was so sweet but he was eventually diagnosed with diabetes (so the name was foreshadowing…). He passed away last year and it was the biggest heartbreak I’ve ever expierenced. Sugar was my best friend and I’m not ready to adopt again so being a sitter through Meowtel is the perfect alternative!!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
It’s important to trust the person you’re leaving your babies with. I would love to first be able to meet you and your cat(s) to make sure we’re a good fit and that you and your cat(s) feel comfortable!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
It’s important to be patient! I like to just sit nearby, careful not to invade their space, and just let them sniff and observe. Cats are incredible animals that require earning their trust and affection which makes it all the more special when you do!

Lauren is absolutely amazing with our cat Milo! In the past we’ve been nervous when leaving because we don’t want him to get lonely or sad, but he loves Lauren so much that now when we leave we know he will be just as happy and as well taken care of as when we’re there. She also always sends the best pictures and videos of him so that we know he’s doing well. When we had travel issues and ended up taking longer than we’d planned to get home, Lauren didn’t hesitate to offer to come an extra time to make sure Milo would get fed and played with. She made us feel completely at ease about the situation, which took so much stress off of us. We’ll definitely be asking for her help again in the future!

I have a senior cat who needs insulin administered twice daily, and leaving him in someone else's care has become more and more stressful for me. I had a very last minute trip come up, and fortunately, Lauren was able to accommodate my request. She was very communicative and I (and my cat Walter) really appreciated how prompt she was for her visits. Finding a sitter is hard, finding a sitter you can trust is harder, and finding one who is comfortable/has experience with needles and insulin adds another layer of complexity. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lauren to anyone in need of a sitter!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Brooklyn cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
