What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been pet sitting for over 15 years, and am a lifelong cat lover! I love making cat parents feel safe and happy when they are away. Cats are our family!
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
What I enjoy most about cat sitting is helping cats feel safe, happy, and comfortable while their people are away. I know how much peace of mind it brings to have someone caring and reliable looking after your pets. I also love getting to know each cat’s unique personality, whether they are playful, shy, cuddly, curious, or independent, and taking the time to make them feel secure and at ease.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
The most important thing is that everyone feels comfortable. The more your sitter knows, the better they can care for your cat. It helps to share your cat’s routine, preferences, and personality up front, whether they’re a social butterfly, a shy sweetheart, or somewhere in between. That way, your sitter knows what to expect and can connect with them at their own pace. And don’t be shy about asking for the updates you want! When you and your sitter communicate well, you can relax and enjoy your trip knowing your cat is in good hands.
What is your favorite cat toy?
My favorite cat toy is a classic wand toy! It’s simple, but cats love it, and it’s a great way to bring out their playful, curious side. I like that it can be adapted to each cat’s personality, whether they want to leap, chase, pounce, or just gently bat at it from a cozy spot. It’s also a wonderful way to bond with a cat at their own pace.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
With timid or anxious cats, I go slowly and let them warm up to me at their own pace. I respect their boundaries, give them space when they need it, and never force interaction. I know cats may miss their people or feel unsure when someone new is in their home, so my priority is to help them feel safe, calm, and well cared for. Whether they want playtime, quiet companionship, or simply a respectful presence nearby, I meet them where they are.

Rebecca is amazing! I have a 14 year old and a 4 year old. My older cat needs medicine every day and Rebecca was great with her. She even sent me pics of the medicine to confirm the dosage. Both cats adored her and she sent lots of pics. They were well fed and the litter ox was clean.

A last minute bail by my usual cat sitter, I turned to Meowtel for substitute. Rebecca answered my request expeditiously. Although the day-to-day care of my healthy boys are quite easy, they do crave & need attention. I had misgivings as I had 1 sitter who did not stay for her contracted time. Not only did Rebecca stay a bit beyond contracted time, but cleaned up cat vomit from my couch. she also got to pet Chestnut who is typically afraid of strangers, so that is always a good sign. I am confident that I will seek Tebecca’s services in the future .

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Brooklyn cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Rebecca was on time and asked great questions at the Meet & Greet. She texted me a few days prior to the start of the reservation to check that it was still on (I booked a few months ahead of a trip). She sent daily photos and updates on my cats, and they looked happy in the photos she sent me.
