I'm sad not to be able to give Dave a higher review. But there were several issues that left me quite upset. First, for the initial meet, Dave didn't show up as scheduled and couldn't be contacted until he had missed our appointment. He was apologetic and admitted the mistake was his, but it was annoying to miss my afternoon appointments because I was waiting for him wondering if he was going to show up. Dave is the third catsitter we have gotten through Meowtel. Unlike the other two, Dave never sent photos of our cats when he was over, and although scheduled for 45minutes a visit, appears to have stayed for much less time. I had to ask him, on two different evenings, if he had even been over to our house because I heard no daily report from him. He also admitted, to my alarm, that although it had been several days, that he only saw 1 of our 3 cats the entire week he came by. I think the other two were scared of him so I suggested he look in some hiding places and shake their treat bag. He still never saw them. I had to pay someone else to go over to find them -- while also paying him -- and she found them immediately (and texted photo proof that they were okay, without being asked). I shouldn't have to hire an emergency cat-sitter when I've already hired one! When I returned home, I was shocked to find that although he had been there 24 hours before, there was ZERO water in their three water bowls, ZERO dry food in their bowls, and their bowl for wet food contained several layers of dry, crusted food that was filthy and inedible. Adding to that, one cat had used our bed as a litter box not once but MULTIPLE TIMES. She's never done this before, and it's shocking to me that Dave never noticed that our bed had been peed on at least 5 times (the quilt was soaked and stinking) when he was looking for her; he did comment that once he found poop on the bed and did his best to clean it up, but a little more noticing and reporting might have been nice (and maybe, if he didn't find the cat in our room, closing the door to the bedroom so that she couldn't continue to use it as a litter box). Again, I don't know why my cats were so fearful of him -- it's not like them -- but I was shocked by the poor job he did and what I found when I returned. I've also never seen my cats completely finish all their dry food and drink 3 water bowls so that they were completely dry in only 24 hours of being left alone with a responsible carer. Dave was cheery and friendly to us, and did clean the litter and put the rinsed wet food cans in the trash, but unfortunately, I don't think he's the sitter for us.
