I have been petsitting for the last 9 years, and in that time, I've cared for senior dogs, puppies, kittens, older cats, fish, and chickens! I have a soft spot for cats though, because I grew up ... Hi, I'm Yazmeen! I'm originally from Georgia, but I'm relocating to Ithaca for a job at IC.
I have been petsitting for the last 9 years, and in that time, I've cared for senior dogs, puppies, kittens, older cats, fish, and chickens! I have a soft spot for cats though, because I grew up with a sassy Abyssinian named Binx (like the one from Hocus Pocus).
I always aim to leave each home better than I found it. I guess that's my Southern charm. I do not smoke, or vape, but I do like to sing, do puzzles, and practice tai chi in my free time. I'm excited to get to know you!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I like to do introductions first, where we can ask each other questions and review the cat's routine, favorite toys, and any medications I may need to administer. Then, I try to schedule a meet & greet prior to the sit, so the cat can do their own interview 😂 just to sniff me and see if they like my temperament. If both meetings go well, then I'm ready to book the sit!
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Whenever I leave the house, I always double check the food and litter boxes to make sure the kitties have everything they need. I also always check that I've locked the door/set alarms to make sure the homenis secure. When I'm in the home, I always like to know where the cats are (it's often under a bed or on top of a cabinet) and check on them throughout the day to play or cuddle.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I always try to let pets come to me first. I start off by offering my hand for them to smell, and gradually try to gauge the cat's comfort levels.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
