When I visit your cat, I focus on keeping their routine consistent and stress-free. I make sure food and water are fresh, litter boxes are clean, and your cat gets attention based on what they enjoy, whether that’s playtime, brushing, or quiet companionship. I also send regular photo updates so you always know how your cat is doing while you’re away.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
I’d recommend choosing someone who communicates clearly and takes the time to understand your cat’s routine and personality. Every cat is different, so it’s important to find a sitter who asks thoughtful questions about feeding, litter habits, favorite toys, and any quirks or medical needs. I also suggest doing a quick meet-and-greet if possible. It helps your cat get familiar with the sitter and gives you peace of mind seeing how they interact. Lastly, choose someone who provides regular updates with photos or notes. Knowing your cat is safe, comfortable, and cared for makes being away so much easier.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I prioritize following the owner’s instructions carefully and keeping routines consistent. I always double-check that doors and windows are securely closed when entering and leaving, and I make sure cats are safely inside before opening any doors. I also pay attention to details like keeping food stored properly, monitoring litter box habits, and watching for any changes in behavior that might signal stress or illness!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I give timid or anxious cats space and let them warm up to me at their own pace. I avoid forcing interaction and focus on keeping their routine consistent so they feel safe and comfortable. I speak softly, move calmly, and pay attention to their body language so I can respond in a way that makes them feel secure. Even if a cat prefers to hide, I make sure their needs are taken care of and check in gently until they feel more at ease.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

New York cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
