What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been catsitting for approximately 12 years. I started as a teenager for family friends and neighbors and found that I loved meeting, getting to know, and taking care of animals. In college I expanded my services to the local community and catsit as a part time job, growing the number of different cats I would take care of at once and also becoming more familiar with medical needs and different feeding requirements. In NYC I have been catsitting for a few years in my neighborhood. I find the experience of caring for animals and building relationships to be rewarding and always love the feeling of having a cat progress toward trusting me and enjoying my presence.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I believe any customer looking to hire the right person for catsitting should look for someone who is experienced and trustworthy. I would advise a potential customer to ask about handling their cat’s specific personality and to meet the sitter first if possible to both see how the person interacts with the cat and also the cat’s level of comfort. I believe clear communication is also critical to a positive catsitting experience and advise any customer to discuss the cat’s routine, preferences, and potential areas to watch, so that the catsitter such as myself can adjust their caregiving practices to suit the need of the customer and cat.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I make sure I am monitoring the cat’s health signs and behavior closely, which can be the biggest indicator of a potential problem. I ensure I know any emergency protocols, including vet contact information, and any instructions easily on hand for things like allergies, medical conditions, or prior illness symptoms that may reoccur. From a perspective of considering the space, i make sure the cat is safe by removing any potential hazards like plants or cables and double check that windows are closed or tightly screened. I also check food and water regulary and replace to be in line with cleanliness and food safety. I always provide frequent updates especially if preferred by the client who may be anxious about leaving their cat for an extended period. Finally, I make sure to have emergency contact information available.

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
