Cats are like bonsai trees, they require patience, no... Howdy! I’m Chelsea. I am a lifelong cat lover (my first word was “kitty”) and experienced cat rescuer. Since 2019, I have fostered and socialized over 65 nyc cats and kittens. This has provided me a rich knowledge base on cat behavior, diet, medical conditions/first aid, quirks and personalities.
Cats are like bonsai trees, they require patience, nourishment, and tlc to bloom! Relationship building is on your cats terms, not mine. I love working with outgoing kittens and social cats but I also find a lot of joy in successfully building trust with a shy cat that may have some unresolved trauma to work through.
I truly love spending time caring for cats and am looking forward to meeting yours!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
For me, it’s about holding space with your pet. Cats may act aloof but prolonged time without your human parent can be really scary! Especially when there’s no way to tell them when you’ll be home. Meowtel is a way for me to step in to diffuse that stress and let your cat know that they are still loved.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I moved to nyc in 2018 with my ancient cat, Lady. She passed away peacefully at the age of 24 and I’ve been fostering exclusively ever since! This gives me the ability to work with cats that do not like other pets and would do very poorly in a traditional shelter setting.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Patience is key! Calm body language, soft movements, and a quiet voice are helpful here. Also I’ve found no direct eye contact with your cat can really help relieve the stress of meeting a brand new human.

Between booking Chelsea and our actual trip, our cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and kidney disease, and had twice-daily medications that needed to be administered. She's not a very social girl to begin with, so we were nervous about how she'd handle it, but Chelsea was able to keep her on schedule, for which we are eternally grateful. She sent plenty of videos and helped us troubleshoot a few cat-cam failures, so we could keep an eye on how our girl was moving. She even taught us a new trick about how our door works, lol. We felt like our buddy was in great hands the whole trip, and can't thank her enough.

Chelsea did such a great job taking care of my 19-year-old senior kitty, Luna! She was professional, kind, and incredibly attentive. We started with a meet & greet, and she was very organized and thorough. She asked all the right questions, took notes, and made sure she understood Luna’s medications and routines. While I was gone, she sent me the cutest and detailed updates with photos to go with. Her updates definitely gave me peace of mind and that Luna was in good hands! Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Ridgewood cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
