I'm Kat, and I love spending time with cats so much that I decided to do it for a living! I currently have four of my own, and I volunteer as a foster parent for a local cat rescue.
I know how stressful it can be to trust a stranger with your cats, and I love having the opportunity to help my clients have peace of mind so they can enjoy their trips without worrying about how things are going at home. I always provide multiple pictures and videos as well as a detailed account of how each visit goes, so you can feel comfortable knowing your kitties are in good hands.
I’ve had multiple cats with medical issues, so I am experienced giving medication to non-aggressive cats orally, topically, and via injection if the cat is used to them.

Behaviorally, my approach is research-based, using shaping and positive reinforcement to help cats be happy and get their needs met in ways that are acceptable to humans. A big part of cat stress relief is playtime that engages their natural prey cycle (hunt-catch-kill, eat-groom-sleep), and I have a bag of cat-approved toys I can bring during my visits upon request.
I have worked in Eugene as a high school teacher, ran my own consulting business (Feline Behavior Investigators), and as an accounting manager for a local software company. I'm a regular Jill of All Trades!
I am available for sits in the Eugene area; please see the map in my picture gallery for my approximate coverage area, which is about a 5 mile radius from the VRC. Meowtel has moved to a zip code-based service area, which unfortunately isn't accurate for less-urban areas like Eugene, so this is my work-around! I am generally available between 9-3 most days.
I’m highly respectful of other people‘s property, and treat their homes like I would my own. I am detail oriented, so don’t be surprised if I take copious notes during meet and greets. I'm fully vaccinated and happy to mask up!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I've been cat sitting full time since June 2022.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
In addition to building connections with cool cats, I love giving people peace of mind that their kitties will be well taken care of under my care. It can be stressful trusting a stranger with your cats and your home, and I aim to help my clients feel confident that their cats' needs will be met AND they'll get comprehensive updates and pictures after each visit. I also love the variety of getting to know different people, cats, and places, and maintaining my (often chaotic) calendar is actually really fun to me!
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
We have 3 senior girls (Jadzia, Saffron, Sriracha) & 1 young foster fail boy (Fidget). We usually have a rolling rotation of foster cats as well. At one point, we fostered a litter of 6 kittens, so we had TEN cats in our house! Jadzia & Fidget are great at showing the new cats the ropes, but our other girls are merely tolerant of them.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Read profiles & reviews carefully to make sure you get the best fit for what your cats need. Ask lots of questions during the meet & greet once you select a sitter, and make sure you are clear about your expectations for visits. Although I take copious notes at meet & greets, I always appreciate a good checklist!
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I ask questions before accepting a booking to make sure we are a good fit, and that we're clear on expectations for the timing & duties performed during visits. I created a template I fill out using the provided data in Meowtel about each cat, which I use as a guide during meet & greets to ensure I have all the info I need. I have clients walk me through their cats' routines & answer any questions or concerns they may have.
What is your favorite cat toy?
The Cat Dancer & Da Bird are the best wand toys, and you can't get much better than a small catnip rattle mouse for throwing! I have a bag full of fun toys I'm happy to bring to visits if my clients approve.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Shy cats are some of my favorites, and the rescues I volunteer with often give me the cats who need socialization, so I have tons of experience with them. I often softly narrate what I'm doing during visits so they can get used to my presence & voice, and I let them approach me instead of the other way around. Avoiding direct eye contact, I'll let them sniff me and decide whether or not they want to be pet. It's all about letting them go at their own pace!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Eugene cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $27.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

This was our first time using Kat and we were totally thrilled with her level of service and caring. She responded quickly to any messages we sent her. She went above and beyond in taking care of our boy Calvin who is a shy and skittish cat. Just one day after meeting our 2 cats in a pleasant and professional meet and greet, our old boy Burtrum, passed away, leaving Calvin as our now only cat. He has always had a companion and we were worried about leaving on our trip with him mourning his brother. Kat took the time to give him the love and attention that actually brought him out of his shell. We really appreciate the sympathy cards and flowers sent to us when she found out about our cat passing away. She sent timely updates about Calvin with lots of beautiful pictures and videos that we looked forward to getting each day. She really put us at ease. I was really apprehensive about going on a week long trip due to my kitty being a shy senior. My vet recommended looking into Meowtel, so after reading all of the reviews for sitters in my area I set up a reservation with Kat. From the very start of the meet and greet, I had a good feeling. Kat showed up on time and actually found my place, which sounds strange, but I live in an apartment complex where everything looks similar and that has been an issue for other things. My cat Willa is elderly, shy, and very particular about people. Kat was patient and moved at Willa's pace. By the end of the meet and greet, Willa actually let Kat pet her! During my trip, Kat sent me several pictures and videos each day, along with a description of how Willa was faring. This was especially important to me, since Willa was diagnosed with kidney disease immediately prior to my trip, and was/is still transitioning to a new diet. It was very clear from the videos that Willa enjoyed her interactions with Kat, which made it easier to relax on my trip. While it wasn't easy to be gone that long, I returned home last night to a happy, healthy, well cared for kitty. I will definitely be booking Kat next time I need a sitter.

Kat is just amazing! She treated our senior kitties with such care and even gave medication to one of our older kitties with no trouble. The reservation went well, because I had three kittens we had to work together to get the perfect service in place. Kat and the Meowtel representative did an amazing job of putting in place exactly what my kittens needed. And Kat is a wonderful cat person, the family was able to warm up to her in record time, she is very detailed and covered all the bases +. Kat was able to discern my anxiety from being away from my kittens and she ramped up the pictures, which was wonderful. Ha Ha and here i thot i only needed a “they’re fine” while i was away, Kat was able to see thru that very quickly.
