😺 I believe that all cats are wonderful, quirks and all! Whether they are rambunctious youngsters, velcro kitties, shy guys, or reserved old-timers, I try to adjust my energy and behavior to support them when owners are absent. My goal is always to have interactions with maximum benefit and minimal stress, even if that means giving them lots of space. I prioritize building trusting relationships with the kitties in my care... 👋 Hi, I'm Leo - I am an experienced cat caretaker with a special interest in rehabilitating and caring for disabled or medically complex kitties. I have volunteered at shelters, fostered and helped out with various rescues. I have also independently rescued and rehomed cats when rescues and shelters were closed to admissions. This has helped me grow as a caregiver and learn so much about our fantastic feline friends, and I have been bringing those skills with me into ocassional pet care work since 2014. I joined Meowtel in 2024.

💉 I am comfortable giving oral medication, insulin + glucose tests, sub-q fluids, inhalers, and other medications to even the spiciest cats. In addition, I provide comprehensive cat care services such as feeding, litterbox cleaning, and enrichment, AKA playtime! I cannot feed raw or freeze dried diets due to the currently high risk of H5N1.
📝 I also ask that all pawrents and kitty caretakers provide detailed written instructions, either through digital file sharing and/or a physical copy at the home. It's often helpful to see these prior to the meet and greet, so I can ask any questions at that time.
🐶 I can no longer provide the add-on of dog care at my Meowtel rates, but I am usually happy to care for any other animals. Please specify any additional needs upfront in your reservation request, including any history of behavioral, medical or bathroom issues your pets might have.
⏰ IMPORTANT: please clearly communicate any expectations you have around scheduling. If you book "anytime," that means anytime between 6a-11p with variability day-to-day. If you want consistency, a particular time of day, or need specific timing on certain days, please tell me when you make the request! I need to have explicit knowledge of your expectations to be able to meet them, as my responsibilities, route and schedule all change daily.
🐈⬛ My youngest cat is my best friend and inspiration for focusing more on this work. Tamarind, the leash-trained wonder, has a rare autoimmune condition that requires careful monitoring, medication, and frequent tests. Despite his struggles, his sweetness and evident gratitude serve as a model for my approach to living and motivate me to share that kindness and love with other cats. Because he's an expensive little angel, I am also incredibly motivated to find and keep more regular clients!
✨ I have worn many hats, including sporadic work as a professional house cleaner and pet sitter. I spent much of my life touring as an artist, and have traveled extensively. I currently also work as a caregiver for human clients, on top of freelance mechanical work on cars an remote admin work. I genuinely cherish any opportunity to support others (including cats!) in feeling comfortable, cared for, and secure.
😷 I am very cautious and pathogen-avoidant; I reduce or limit my exposure whenever possible. I always mask in my clients' homes unless on an overnight visit and use my air purifier during those. You don't have to worry about changing your routines at all, but I do encourage everyone to learn about the rising risk of bird flu for our feline friends. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about this, even if I'm not the sitter for you.
🚨 So I can provide the most attentive and loving care, please disclose any and all medical history your kitty may have, and ensure the vet you authorize through Meowtel's forms has their medical records available. Let me know of any usual behaviors or symptoms that are not cause for alarm.
🔊 Please also disclose any use of video or audio recording devices, including Alexas, Nests or Dots, at the time of booking so we can discuss appropriate use- especially if you are booking overnights.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been cat-sitting and fostering kitties since I was a teenager- nearly 20 years! A lot of that time has been devoted to other projects, but I have been involved with cat care and companionship in some way for most of my life. Most recently, I have done a lot of TNR and DIY rescue work, and started a more formal pet sitting business in 2024.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
The cats, of course! But I also find caring for people, pets, and homes to be energetically fulfilling and vital work in a world that often leaves us too rushed to take care of ourselves, let alone other beings.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
I recently cat sat an older gentleman tabby who greeted me with so many mrows, mruffs and chirps at the door every time I arrived. He was in early kidney disease and by the time his humans came back home, his energy and coat had visibly improved during the week due to some small changes I made to his hydration sources. I was able to pass along that info to the owner and she was ecstatic to see him acting like a goofy kitten again. If I notice simple changes which might help an ailing kitty, I'll ask for consent and inform the owner. I treasure any chance to improve a cat's quality of life. PS: this cat's owner had to move across country and didn't want to take him... So now he gets to spend his last days getting spoiled by me! He went from skin and bones to fat/happy.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes! I recently adopted one of my former client kitties named Jasper, an elderly gentleman tabby with chronic kidney disease. He is settling right in and bossing my existing and beloved 3 year old void boy Tamarind around. (Don't worry, Tam loves any and all attention.)
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
The more details, the better! Be sure to think of everything a sitter would need to safely access your home and provide the best care for your kitty. Leaving written instructions either in your home or on your Meowtel profile is extremely helpful, as is filling out the Vet Release Form. Please keep in mind that sitters generally require flexibility in scheduling, so if you have schedule requests or constraints those should be mentioned at the time of a reservation request. Lastly, if your kitty or home has needs that require service above and beyond Meowtel's baseline standards for all visits, or you have additional animals, please tip. Sitters don't have the option with Meowtel to charge more for these extra needs, but we do want to accommodate everyone. Likewise- if you want a stellar sitter to remain available to work with you again, your best bet is to tip them.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I am extremely careful when entering and exiting the home; I'm very familiar with escape artists. I also make sure that I'm authorized to take cats to the vet in the event of an emergency and ask owners for details about their regular. I am especially vigilant about making sure that nothing unusual or dangerous winds up on the floor, and I closely monitor the behavior and appearance of cats every visit. I also mask and sanitize my hands before each visit to prevent spread of pathogens, and am happy to take off my shoes as well.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes! IF I'm not booked with another client, first. I can generally prioritize holiday availability over other work as well.
What is your favorite cat toy?
I'm a big fan of food puzzles and the catnip bananas! Silverine sticks are also great for dental health and play.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I give them lots of space and try to stay quiet and reassuring. I will occasionally go and sit nearby them while talking in a low voice, but only if it doesn't clearly stress them out even more. And treats.... Lots of treats. 😻

Leo seriously was a godsend. Our void boy Clancy was exceptionally nervous, and had just been diagnosed with asthma about a month prior to our trip, so was still getting used to his inhaler. Leo took the time to make sure he was comfortable and got his medication twice a day every day despite Clancy’s skittish little scaredy-cat personality!! Whenever we go out of town in the future, we’ll for sure be booking Leo. Our other two cats were totally fine and happy to meet a new friend!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Portland cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Leo was very patient and kind in a challenging cat sitting situation. She cat sat our two cats, one older and one younger, for about a week. My older gal has to take a corticosteroid liquid med by mouth. When we left, our cat unexpectedly got really scared/stressed and made it very difficult for Leo to med her. Leo recognized her stress and prioritized giving her space and minimizing her stress over trying to med her. She called me right away to inform of the situation. Fortunately for us, a friend of ours was able to med our cat while we were away. I appreciate that this was a really challenging situation and because we only booked 20-min visits, Leo didn't have enough time for our cat to calm down enough for her to med her. Lessons learned. Still, five stars for a cat sitter who clearly cares and tries to be really in tune with a cat's personality and limits.

Leo truly went above and beyond from the beginning. While Leo requires a higher rate for my area of town, I went with them because they had the highest amount of top ratings for the dates I was gone. It was so worth it. Their attention to the details of my notes at our first meeting impressed me, down to remembering the name of our pet fish. I could tell from the daily pics that my kitty was relaxed and trusting. On the last visit, Leo even tidied up, which I was not expecting but appreciated. We will hire them again for sure.

All 3 of us (my 2 cats and I) hate being apart and experience separation anxiety. But Leo did an amazing job showering my very needy Siamese with attention and cuddles, while simultaneously charming my shy, sassy Void into coming out of her hiding spot for treats and playtime. I can’t say enough good things about Leo! My two cats have some health issues, and one of them (who is generally very skittish) has to be pilled every day. I had a trip coming up that I was debating canceling because I didn’t think my usual pet sitters would be able to handle the care they now require. I was very lucky to find Leo last minute! They were great with my skittish cat and had no issues medicating him and getting him to come out of his shell (no small feat!). I was sent detailed notes, photos, and videos everyday, and I could tell my cats instantly felt comfortable with them. I was able to enjoy my trip knowing they were being very well cared for. I would highly recommend Leo and will definitely be booking again in the future!

Leo is truly amazing! They always capture the best moments of my kitties while I'm away. It's heartwarming to see how comfortable my cats feel with them! One of my cats is quite shy and takes awhile to warm up, but Leo is patient and never pushes for interaction. They do such a wonderful job of matching my shy cat's energy, which helps them feel relaxed enough to enjoy some pets and cuddles from Leo eventually. If there's ever an issue, Leo is quick to communicate and find a solution. I would definitely recommend booking them!

This was my fourth time booking with Leo. My two boys absolutely hate when I leave, and in true cat mom fashion, I told them not to worry because their friend Leo was coming. I received updates and photos from each visit. My boys received excellent care- from feeding, to playtime, to keeping their litter box clean, to even emptying the trash before I returned. I don't even know what to say. I have a formal feral rescue cat who hates everyone and hides, and LEO—the cat charmer—got her to come out, allow pets, and even give head bumps! She is the empathetic cat whisperer and my new favorite person so that I can actually leave my house without feeling terrified and sad. Myaktah Pyewacket, the high-maintenance roommate and best fur friend, now has a secondary friend. I can honestly say this is someone I would like to know on a personal level. Absolutely UNBELIEVABLE.

Hiring Leo was one of the best decisions my wife and I made in the past five years. Leo was at the same time extremely professional and very loving to our cats. One of our cats runs and hides whenever someone new comes over, however Leo had that cat hanging out on their shoulders by the end of their second day together. Leo‘s updates were frequent and filled with details, they handled everything extremely well and sent tons of updates and photos. We felt completely at ease while we were on vacation. Our cats had grown up during the pandemic and were used to inordinate amounts of affection and pets all day long from us, so when we went on our first out-of-town trip we were very concerned about how much the cats would freak out in our absence. But Leo took care of everything and made the cats feel safe and loved. Leo stayed overnight 3 nights in a row and kept them company and gave them tons of cuddles, and treated the house with respect. At the end of their stay, Leo cleaned up in a way that was beyond our expectations. We will absolutely hire Leo again and we recommend them without hesitation.

This is my second time booking with Leo and they were once again amazing! They are great with my skittish cat and were able to medicate him with no problem. We couldn’t be happier with the care our pet sitter provided while we were out of town. She followed all of our instructions carefully and made sure our two cats had everything they needed. Leo was so incredible!!! From the moment I met them at the meet and greet, I knew they were going to be a perfect fit for my cats. Leo paid careful attention to detail, using a shared Doc between the two of us so that we were both on the same page with the needs of the cats. They were absolutely amazing, above 5 stars. Leo exceeded my expectations when they recently stayed overnight for 3 nights of cat sitting. I have 2 cats, one of them is on twice daily meds and has some mild behavior issues. Leo was great about checking in a couple of times a day with photos and updates on how everything was going. I could tell from our interactions that Leo had read and understood the detailed instructions I had left on the meds, feeding and Kitten’s behavior issues. My cats really took to Leo, they were able to draw out my shyer cat by playing with her favorite toy. What I wasn’t expecting was to return home to an apartment that was cleaner than I had left it. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with Leo again, and in fact have already booked them again. Leo truly is the best cat sitter we’ve ever had.

Leo was so great to work with, one thing right off the bat that I appreciated was the “heads-up” chat with each ETA for daily visits. I loved the pics of my kitties greeting them upon the visits. I was grateful to hear they were eating and drinking well while I was away and those daily updates gave me reassurance that the kitties were well cared for. I loved to hear all of the play updates, pics, and videos as well as the observations on their behavior (head butts, cheek bumps, high jumps) and it made me feel good that they were so playful and engaging with Leo. Prior to departure on the last day one very kind and unexpected thing Leo did was wipe down and sanitize all touch surfaces, light switches, sinks, counters and toilets so my house was “sparkling” on my return – which it sure was! I thought that was so nice and thoughtful, really over the top! Thank you Leo!

I recently used a cat sitter for the first time for my two cat babies and was quite nervous at first! One of them was recently diagnosed with diabetes and needs special attention and insulin given at a certain time. I was lucky to have Leo taking care of my boys and all of my nerves were calmed! They both received excellent care, attention, and love. Medication administration was not an issue and I had good confidence that my baby cat would get his meds on time and administered properly. Leo communicated very well and each visit I got many photos. I will definitely be booking Leo again to care for my boys!

Leo is a fabulous caretaker for our kitties. Their updates are very detailed and informative including noting any changes in behavior or appearance. This is super helpful for our girls who struggle with allergies and constipation so Leo could care for them as needed day to day. They were able to administer oral syringe medication to our resistant kitty as well! We would not hesitate to book them again.

I’m thankful Leo was able to spend some time with my cat while I was gone. They sent many photos of her and made sure she was fed with wet food and had enough time to play around with. However, I wish Leo was more detail-oriented. during the meet-and-greet, they didn’t take any notes. while I provided a separate instruction document for them to read, they still had to ask a few critical question I already provided.
