My love of cats has been lifelong! As a child, my family adopted a kitten and then began fostering kitties. I was frequently tapped as a cat sitter for neighbors and regularly ran fundraisers for donations for the local animal shelter.

I currently have 3 cats of my own, in addition to 3 dogs! I have previously volunteered/fostered with adoptable and community cat programs and am particularly fluent in “spicy” cats. By “day” I work in higher ed.

I would love to take care of your kitties! I have the following skills:

- extensive work with undersocialized/very shy kitties
- medication disposal (oral, liquid, dermal, shots, subcutaneous fluids, etc.)
- nail trims/topical monthly preventatives

I'm Cat and Dog CPR certified through the American Red Cross and also hold my TNR Certification.

Learn More About Megan

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been catsitting since childhood, moving from neighbors cats to friends/colleagues to Meowtel! I’ve loved being part of the Meowtel team where I’ve gotten to know so many wonderful new felines.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

After a reservation request is complete, I schedule a complimentary meet and greet. During that time, I meet the humans and cats, taking copious notes and asking questions about routines, favorite hiding spots, favorite toys and playtime, regular vs unusual eating or litter habits, and confirming key arrangement. I explain what kinds of updates I will share and make sure there are no additional requests.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Cats are sneaky! I make sure to enter the home in a way that never leaves any exits exposed for escape and verify every cat is in the home during my visit (even shy ones). When I exit, I confirm all doors are locked. I am Red Cross certified in Cat and Dog First Aid and renew my certification annually. I also have extensive experience working with cats with varying medical needs, so I’m aware what kinds of symptoms to look for should problems arise.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am typically available during most major holidays.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I have extensive experience working with anxious cats, from years of volunteeeing and fostering with under socialized and fractious community cats. I guarantee what I call a “proof of life” photo each visit, even of the shyest cats. Other than making sure a shy cat is safe and secure (and eating/using the bathroom), I mostly let them approach me. I try to find a neutral spot on the floor where they can feel safe observing me and potentially approaching. Not every cat is interested and that’s ok! But many find they get lonely and I’m *good enough* to engage with!

Megan is the best and took excellent care of our two cats (one of whom is on a special hydrolyzed food diet and meds). Our cats seemed immediately comfortable and happy in Megan’s presence and they were extremely well cared for while we were gone! We loved all the updates, videos, and photos. Megan is also experienced at giving pills to cats and we were very grateful for that. Couldn’t ask for a better cat carer!

Once again, Megan was amazing! Our Kitty is so comfortable with her now, thanks to Megan's consistency, skills, and demeanor. Megan is a pro at transdermal medications. Megan also proved to be outstanding regarding household issues and emergencies. We had a surprise ant situation in our kitchen that Megan was so kind about and a water main break on our street that Megan promptly called in while providing our Kitty with all the necessities (even without running water). Megan is a pro and we're so thankful for her!

Megan once again did a great job with our Kitty! We were away for two nights, and Megan did a great job with 3 different transdermal medications, monitoring a rash, and lots of particular requests. She always keeps us updated on how our Kitty is doing (her activities, physical stuff, and her mood) and she keeps our Kitty happy while we are away. Megan always demonstrates patience, kindness, and skill! We're so thankful for Megan!

Megan did a great job, yet again. The last visit was in December and Megan was willing to come do a (re)meet & greet before the visit in May. Very kind of her and reassuring to us! It really demonstrated her commitment to quality cat care / experience! The previous visits had been great, but this time Megan even took it up a notch - thanks to Megan's quality care, calmness, consistency, and skill our Kitty went from being fine with / tolerating her presence to them obviously being buddies! Megan really is amazing at what she does, and we are so thankful for her care of our Kitty when we are away! And for those of you with cats who need transdermal medicines - Megan is excellent with this task!

This was our second time working with Megan. Once again, we were completely impressed with her! This was the longest we'd been away from our kitty for a long time, and having someone skilled and dependable to care for her while we were away was so wonderful. Megan visited 2x a day and applied transdermal medications each visit, provided her with fresh food and water, interacted with her based on our kitty's preferences at the time (brushing and petting, playing, or just sitting nearby to keep her company), and cleaned the litter box. In addition to adorable pictures and videos of our kitty, she sent pictures of the food bowls so I could see how much she was eating and also gave us clear and detailed reports each visit about how she was acting, progress they'd made, and activities completed. It was so reassuring! Our kitty is shy and can be anxious, but Megan's patience, calm, and cat behavior skills do wonders! This trip they made even more progress, and I could tell on the pictures and videos that our kitty was happy Megan was there! Megan was timely, professional, dependable, and flexible in addition to being great with our kitty!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
