My name is Sophia. I went to college in Pittsburgh (H2P!) and I work as a hydrologist studying our local rivers. I grew up around cats and absolutely adore taking care of them! I have cat-sat for friends, family, and neighbors for several years. I also volunteered at Tabby’s Place, a sanctuary for cats with special needs in New Jersey, during summers when I was home from college... Hi, kitty parents!

I have cat-sat for friends, family, and neighbors for several years. I also volunteered at Tabby’s Place, a sanctuary for cats with special needs in New Jersey, during summers when I was home from college. Thanks to these experiences, I am comfortable caring for cats with all different personalities and health requirements.
To help you feel at ease while you’re away from your fur baby, I am extremely responsive to any and all messages or questions. I also provide updates and photos of your kitty at each visit. In case of an emergency, I’m First Aid trained and certified, so I can calmly ensure your cat gets the care he or she needs.
I currently work full-time, but I am available on weekday evenings, all day on weekends, and during the holiday season. I’m looking forward to meeting and caring for your cats!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been cat sitting on and off for about ten years. Most of my clients were neighbors and friends, but I had some clients who knew about me through word of mouth. Through Meowtel, I’ve been sitting consistently since October 2024. It’s been an amazing experience meeting new clients (cats and owners!) and getting to see my regulars.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I don’t have any kitties of my own right now, but my boyfriend, roommates, and parents all have cats that I show off as if they’re my own :)
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Most of the timid and anxious kitties that I meet warm up to me in time. I give them plenty of space to approach me on their own terms and respect their boundaries, and bribing them with a couple of treats always helps the process!

While our usual sitter was also on vacation, Sophia stepped in to take care of our crew. Made sure food and water were refilled, and litter cleaned. Spent time getting our two problem children accustomed to her, and gave pills when they let her. Also kept food/water available for the feral tom that lives out back. And brought in the stack of random deliveries that happened to arrive while we were away.

Our cats are seniors and one needed meds, which she diligently gave. With them being older they’re not as easy as some cats, but she kept up with them and cleaned up messes, which was very much appreciate. Would give her a million stars!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Pittsburgh cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
