What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

Cats have been part of my life for several decades. My love for them began when I was eight years old with my beloved childhood companion, Minoushka. Over the years, my family cared for several cats, and at one point we had five cats in our home. In 2022, I adopted my two rescue boys, Yuri and Roku, and caring for them has deepened my understanding of feline behavior, routines, and individual personalities. I have experience administering oral medications, calming supplements, topical treatments, and injections when needed, as well as monitoring eating habits, litter box activity, and changes in behavior that may indicate something isn't quite right. I believe every cat is unique, and I strive to provide the same patience, kindness, and attention to my clients' cats that I give to my own boys every day.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting is earning a cat's trust. Cats don't give their affection freely, and I think that's part of what makes them so special. Every cat has its own personality, preferences, and pace, and I enjoy getting to know what makes each one unique. Some cats love playtime and attention, while others simply appreciate a calm presence and someone who respects their space. I never force interactions and always let cats set the pace. There is something incredibly rewarding about seeing a shy cat gradually become comfortable and knowing that I've helped them feel safe and cared for while their family is away. As a cat parent myself, I know how much peace of mind it brings to receive updates and photos while traveling, so I love being able to provide that reassurance to fellow cat lovers.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes! I currently share my home with two wonderful rescue cats named Yuri and Roku. Yuri is gentle, observant, and affectionate on his own terms. He enjoys routines and has taught me the importance of paying attention to the little things that contribute to a cat's health and happiness. Roku is playful, curious, and wonderfully expressive. Because he spent his early months being passed between different homes before joining our family, building trust with him took time and patience. His journey taught me that shy cats don't need to be rushed—they need understanding, consistency, and the freedom to feel comfortable at their own pace. Living with Yuri and Roku has shown me that every cat is different, and that's one of the many reasons I love them so much. They continue to teach me something new every day.
