What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been around cats for most of my life and grew up with three of my own. I care for my neighborhood cats and my aunt’s cats when she’s away. Over the years, I’ve learned that every cat has a unique personality and routine, and I enjoy taking the time to earn their trust and make them feel comfortable. Caring for animals has always been something I genuinely love, which is what inspired me to join Meowtel.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most about cat sitting is getting to know each cat’s unique personality. No two cats are the same, and I love discovering their little quirks, preferences, and routines. One of the most rewarding parts is earning the trust of a shy or cautious cat and watching them become comfortable around me. Cats are intuitive and majestic creatures, and being in their presence always feels special. They have a quiet way of communicating their needs, boundaries, and affection, and I enjoy learning how each cat expresses themselves. Whether it’s a playful kitten, a curious explorer, or a senior cat who prefers a peaceful nap in the sun, I love adapting to their individual personalities. Every cat has their own story, and I genuinely enjoy getting to know each one.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite cat-sitting experiences was caring for a shy orange tabby. At first, he kept his distance, but over time he began to trust me. Every morning, almost like clockwork, he would come into my room and “sing” to wake me up. It became our little routine, and I always looked forward to it. What made it so special was watching him go from cautious and reserved to confident and affectionate. Moments like that remind me how rewarding it is to earn a cat’s trust and build a genuine bond with them.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

No I currently have no kitties! My last cat was a long haired calico I named Candela and Candles for short. She was the best. I care for my neighborhood cats now which come cisit frequently.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I would thoroughly read their profile and reviews before booking. Prepare a list of questions that are specific to you and your cat, and don’t be afraid to ask personality-based questions to make sure you’re a good match. Always schedule a meet-and-greet beforehand. It’s important to make sure the sitter fits your expectations, communication style, and schedule. Some pet parents prefer early morning visits, while others may need late-night check-ins. Taking the time to find the right fit will help ensure a positive experience for both you and your cat.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

My process starts by reviewing each other’s profiles to make sure we’re a good fit. From there, I like to discuss schedules, routines, and any special needs your cat may have. I always recommend a meet-and-greet beforehand so we can get to know each other and ensure everyone feels comfortable. During the visit, I’ll learn about your cat’s personality, feeding schedule, favorite toys, hiding spots, and any medications or care requirements. For shy or cautious cats, I may spend a few minutes interacting with them without the cat parent present so I can observe their comfort level naturally. This helps me understand their temperament and build trust before the booking begins. Clear communication, realistic expectations, and your cat’s well-being are my top priorities from day one.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

The safety and well-being of your cat are always my top priorities. I carefully follow your instructions regarding feeding, medications, routines, and any special needs. I am mindful of doors, windows, and potential escape routes, especially with curious or shy cats. I also treat every home with the utmost respect by locking doors, securing the property, and keeping everything clean and tidy. During visits, I monitor your cat’s behavior for any changes and will contact you immediately if I notice anything concerning. You’ll receive regular updates and photos so you can feel confident that both your cat and home are in good hands while you’re away.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yes. Not for overnights. Sometimes it’s rare but I do travel during holidays. That will always be communicated in advance, especially if we have developed a relationship

What is your favorite cat toy?

My favorite cat toys are the dangling wand toys that get cats jumping and playing, little toy mice, and interactive scratchers with a ball track maze. They’re great for encouraging exercise, mental stimulation, and bringing out a cat’s natural hunting instincts.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I speak in a calm, gentle voice and let cats approach me on their own terms. If they’re shy or anxious, I never force interaction. Instead, I’ll sit quietly, give them space, and allow them to become comfortable at their own pace. If the owner approves, I may use treats, tuna, or catnip to help build trust. I always let a cat sniff my hand before attempting to pet them and pay close attention to their body language. Building trust takes patience, and every cat deserves to feel safe and respected.
