What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been caring for cats for several years, both personally and professionally. As a dedicated cat sitter, I’ve looked after cats with different personalities, from playful kittens to senior cats needing extra care. I also have experience administering medications, following special diets, and providing plenty of cuddles (if the cat allows it!). My goal is always to ensure each cat feels safe, comfortable, and loved while their owner is away.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

What I enjoy most is building trust with each cat over time. Every cat is so different, some are playful right away, and others are more shy or cautious. I really value being able to meet them where they’re at. It’s rewarding to see a cat that was initially reserved start to feel comfortable and safe with me. I also love giving cat parents peace of mind, knowing their pets are being cared for with patience and the same love they give them.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

One of my favorite reservations was caring for a multi-cat home where each cat had a completely different personality. Some were very social, while others preferred their space, so it took time to learn each of their routines and comfort levels. By the end of the visits, even the more shy cats began to come out and interact with me, which felt really special. I enjoyed being able to create a calm environment for all of them and make sure each cat was cared for in a way that suited them individually.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes! I have 3 cats — Kief, Toast & Violet. Each of them has their own unique personality, from playful and mischievous to laid-back and cuddly.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Find someone who truly understands and respects cats’ unique personalities. A good cat sitter should be patient, attentive, and willing to adapt to your cat’s needs—whether that means extra playtime, quiet companionship, or special care routines. Communication is also key! Look for a sitter who provides updates and makes you feel confident that your cat is in good hands while you’re away.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

When working with a new cat parent, I like to start by understanding their cat’s routine, personality, and any specific care needs. I pay close attention to details like feeding schedules, litter preferences, and any behaviors I should be aware of so I can provide consistent care. During visits, I follow their routine closely while also observing the cat’s behavior to make sure everything feels normal and comfortable. I always provide updates so the owner feels informed and at ease while they’re away. My goal is to make the experience as smooth and stress-free as possible for both the cat and their owner.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

As an experienced cat parent, I know how sneaky and determined cats can be when it comes to escaping or finding unexpected hiding spots. To prevent any escapes, I’ve developed quick reflexes and always put my entire body through the door before fully opening it, ensuring they don’t even get the chance to bolt. Inside the house, I make sure all doors are securely closed, especially in rooms where they might wander into hidden spaces. Cats love to sleep in unusual spots, and I’m always mindful of checking those areas to prevent them from getting stuck or accidentally locked in. My priority is keeping them safe, comfortable, and exactly where they’re supposed to be!

What is your favorite cat toy?

My favorite cat toy recently has been cat ropes infused with catnip I got on Amazon! Truly brings out a playfully side especially anxious cats.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

When caring for anxious cats, I prioritize patience and letting them set the pace. I always allow them to approach me on their own terms rather than forcing interaction. To build trust, I go down to their level, making myself less intimidating and more approachable. I never yell or make sudden movements, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable. To help them associate me with positive experiences, I bring Churu treats and a variety of toys, letting them engage in play if they feel up to it. Every cat is different, so I take the time to understand their comfort zone and provide the gentle, reassuring presence they need.
