What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Meeting all of the new cats of course! I always love to meet them and give them attention. It’s rewarding to gain a new cat’s trust and see them be excited when I arrive and ask for attention. I’ve had many shy felines turn into lap cats and it never gets old.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I have one cat right now, her name is Sylvanas and she is the tortie in my pictures. She’s a very sweet baby and is sitting on my lap as I write my profile.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Trust is very important when picking someone to watch out for your furry companion(s). Make sure the sitter has good reviews, communicates well, and exudes a warm demeanor when visiting for the meet and greet.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
There’s a lot to learn about cats for a new pet parent, especially if it’s their first time around one. I have taught several people in this position. I cover everything from feeding and watering, to guiding on litter box selection, toys and how to keep your cat entertained, and how to introduce a new cat to a home that already has them.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes I am! I very rarely travel, so I will be around to take care of your kitties whenever you are gone!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Not all cats are naturally extroverted and that’s ok. I can appreciate them from afar. I like to sit on the floor and wait for them. Sometimes they will get curious and wander out to inspect. I stay to myself while they wander and sniff me, but don’t force an interaction. I’ll reach my hand out with my palm facing up to guage their receptiveness and pet only if they give me the go ahead with a headbutt or by licking me. If that fails, I can bribe with treats.

The reservation went very smoothly. I booked with Jasper and he came by and met the kitty’s and then we discussed everything and during the trip he kept me updated and and sent pictures and videos of them which I greatly appreciate. one of my cats got sick a few times and he handled it perfectly and informed me of the situation. I definitely would recommend Jasper, he’s kind and attentive and will take good care of your kitty’s while you are away.

Jasper's fantastic! The cat vibe is fully present. He connected with two of our three in the 1st five minutes of just the "meet n greet!" Moses, our skittish lil man, almost came out to say hi, too. Unreal. Jasper's trustworthy, kind, and did great with our fur family. We are, quite literally, using him again this weekend. Good stuff.

Jasper really has a heart for the kitties that he cares for. He reliably sent updates about his visits with Sammie, including comments and videos every day. She doesn't warm up to strangers quickly (although if they have her food it helps a lot!) but Jasper became her good friend very quickly.

reservation was supper easy and allows editing if something changes. Jasper has watched our two cats about 4 times now. however this time we asked if he would mind watering ours plants too. it was no problem and was glad to help. on one of his visits he was not able to find the cats, so he texted me and ultimately he found them behind our dryer. I was very thankful he would not go until he could find them.

we have used Jasper multiple times. each visit he tried to engage with our kitties, they are very shy with new people. this time one of our cats finally allowed Jasper to pet him. shows that he knows how to interact with shy cats and not force it.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Richardson cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $27.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
