What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love getting to see cats in their preferred place where their purr-sonalities can really shine! Getting to share the day with a kitty cat is always such a privilege, and it's extra gratifying when you've earned their trust and they warm up to you.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have three cats of my own: Peanut, Bismark, and Marmey. I have had Marmey for over ten years - since he was about a year old. Recently I had to say goodbye to my oldest cat is Toby - he was estimated to be between 18-23 years old and I’m so grateful for the time we had together. My younger two are Peanut and Bismark - they're five and four, respectively. They are absolutely hilarous together and like to play multiple times a day. My favorite thing is to see them teach each other little mannerisms and habits. All of my cats are such individuals and I love that they let me hang out with them.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

My goal is to disrupt your cats' routines as little as possible. In order to do so, I'll schedule a meet and greet with you so you can show me their routines and we can become a little more familiar with each other. I never try to force my way into a cat's personal space. I'll bend down to where they are and let them come to me if they're interested. I love to learn more about how you interact with them and be respectful of how they like to run their ship!

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I ensure the safety and security of the cats in your home by following your instructions to a "T!" I understand that there might be some off-limits areas, and I'll always be respectful of that. I'm always cautious when entering the home as well - I myself have a cat who sometimes attempts to be an escape artist! One thing I'm always sure of before leaving my home is doing a "cat count" to ensure I have eyes on everyone before heading out. This way, I know I didn't accidentally close someone in a room without access to their creature comforts. Cats are curious and sneaky - so this is a safety measure I always abide by!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I have an anxious little guy myself. I know his worst nightmare is someone invading his space, so I refuse to do that to your cat. Much of the time for each visit is devoted to playing with your cat, and I understand that your cat might not be cool with that - that's ok with me! I'll ensure feeding and litter box protocols are always met, then I'll find a spot to just hang out quietly for the rest of the visit and give some time for your shy kitty to get accustomed to me. If/when they decide they feel more at ease, then we can get to the fun stuff! Either way, you'll receive an update and the best photo I can snap.
