What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I am new to making this an official business, however I have done several rounds of cat sitting (and dog sitting) for friends. I've had cats all my life and I know them well. I understand and love all their antics, and attitudes. I'm looking forward to meeting yours!

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I did a 10 day overnight house/pet sitting job that included 2 dogs and 7 cats for a friend who has done a lot of fostering and volunteering for best friends and CAWS. The cats varied from very friendly and cuddly to totally feral, living in the backyard and refusing to come into the house. It was fun hanging out with, and befriending such a large crew of animals. It was a lovely house with a big back yard. Home away from home.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes, I have a crew of 3 cats. They were littermates that were born in my backyard to a feral momma cat in 2019. I had plans to socialize them and adopt them out, but they ended up being mine. Their names are Blaze, Nutmeg, and Raya.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I find it's always best to give them their space, and to be patient. I let them get aquainted with me by being quiet, letting them observe and smell me from whatever distance they feel comfortable. I soften my body language, sit down on the ground if possible and invite them over without any pressure that they come to me. I try to find what is enticing to them- a soft voice, offer treats, something to play with, or pets. Having spent a lot of time around feral cats, building trust and coaxing them to be friends just takes time.

I am very involved in rescue & foster a lot. Every time she sits for me, my situation is different depending on how many fosters I have and their specific needs. I do travel quite a bit. I always consider my amount of travel when I’m about to commit to a foster because I want to make sure that they’re taken care of when I’m not home. I don’t have to worry when I know Julie’s available to watch my crew. I know she is more than willing & very capable of handling whoever I have at my house. That provides me peace of mind which is invaluable. Julie is incredibly trustworthy, very honest and I know that I don’t have to worry at all when she is in charge.

Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
