I love gaining a cat's trust! Many of the cats I have sat for were very shy at first, but warmed up to me! The cat in my photo has been notoriously shy over the past month in the shelter, and I was able to approach her patie... I have cat-sat for the past four years, and I volunteer at my local animal shelter as a cat socializer.

I have experience cleaning litter boxes, as well as distributing canned wet food, dry food, and treats. I also make sure to spend at least 30 minutes with each cat during each visit to make sure they feel loved and can play while their loving owners are away!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I really love getting to know cats and earning their trust over time! With cat sitting, you get to see a cat open up to you and see how their behavior changes towards you over time! What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
I really appreciate when customers give detailed instructions on any routines they have, as well as what type of food each cat prefers (wet vs. dry) and how often/how many cans to feed them.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I love working with shy or anxious cats because of my patience and joy in taking it slow. Often the first thing I do when meeting a cat is placing my hand near them and waiting to see how they react. Then, after a bit, I may move my hand closer near the cat's nose to let them sniff me, then try petting. Often if they show signs of hesitance, I will just stay in the spot and keep holding out my hand, but not invade their personal space, while letting them get used to me being there. I will also use treats if they are hesitant, and see if they start to trust me or become less scared.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
