What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have been cat sitting for 3-4 years. I filled in on a job for my roommate years ago (the owner was fully aware and allowed it). At the time, she had a very shy cat that would run and hide whenever someone would come to her house. The cat only came out for her humans. When I started sitting for this family, I never saw the cat, she hid (and really well!). One visit, I saw the cat hiding in the bed, under the covers and I softly just pet her over the covers. She slowly came out from under the covers and has come out for me ever since! She no longer hides from me, and lets me pet her all the time now!
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love cats. I get cats. I understand that they take time to build trust. I find the more shy cats to be the most rewarding, because cats can be very wary of humans. But once you gain their trust, it’s the best thing ever. They become a whole different cat. And I truly appreciate that!
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
For my answer to a previous question, I would like to continue the discussion. Ever since my roommate asked me to fill in for that job, she and her coworkers (they work at a vet clinic) have only been asked to pet sit for the family once, as I was unavailable to sit during the requested timeframe. I am the family’s go-to sitter, and that means a lot to me that they took a chance in trusting me to come into their home and take care of their kitties. They were extremely impressed when they found out I had gained the trust of their shy kitty and that she allowed me to give her pets and scritches.

Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, most holidays I am off from work.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I respect the floofs. I try to move quietly, and will often just sit in their presence and talk to them softly, or try enticing them out with churu or their favorite treats.

Kelly is without a doubt the best sitter we’ve ever had for our cats (and they are getting old!) She went to great lengths to win over our reclusive kitties, and by the end of our time away, they would wait for her to come by the door. One of our cats is diabetic, and in the past it’s been hard to find a sitter who could give him his injections—not because they weren’t capable, but because our cat didn’t trust them and wouldn’t cooperate. No issues with Kelly giving medications at all. Recommend 100%!

Kelly is truly a gifted cat caregiver! I was overwhelmed by her on the meet and greet visit. She even brought a treat for our cats, Sparkles and Jack! She listened to our backstory about them and is charming and engaging! During our absence she provided pictures of our cats - which is a testament to her skill since they are very shy. She went way beyond our expectations and we will be asking her to cat sit in the near future!! She is truly specially and recommend her to anyone seeking the best care for their cats!

Kelly took such great care of my furbabies and made it so that I didn’t have to worry about them at all! she sent lots of pictures, videos, and updates during each visit. I have one cat who is very anxious and she was able to give home a dose of his CBD medication in his ear when he normally doesn’t let many people near him!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Fredericksburg cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Kelly is the most dedicated, caring & remarkable cat sitter I have ever uses. She goes out of her way to assure my cats are well cared for & she has gone over & above to help me personally. One of my cats takes medication & she always assures that she gets her meds at the prescribed times. I have called her on short notice & she has made herself available. My cats absolutely adore her. I have a cat that was feral & is terrified of people she doesn't know. Kelly was able to get her to trust her in a record two days of interactions with her during the first time she cared for her. That little kitty now recognizes Kelly & literally runs to her when she comes to care for her. All three of my cats are crazy about her & I am too. I trust Kelly more than any other sitter I've ever used. I recommend her highly & without reservation. She is simply amazing.
